Sterile Processing Tech Location: Ellsworth, ME Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $1,731 per week Shift Information: 5 days x 8 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 3/9/2026 About the Position Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician Profession: Sterile Processing Tech Specialty: Operating Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Hours per Shift: 40 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Not specified Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, STABLE, fetal monitoring Must-Have: Experience in Labor and Delivery, Postpartum care, and care of well babies. Description: Immediate start is needed. Manager interviews will be conducted. This facility has 64 hospital beds. It features a Level III Nursery, with an average of 200 births per year. All labor and delivery patients are low risk, while high-risk patients are transferred to another facility. The unit practices LDRP, meaning patients will receive care for Antepartum, Intrapartum, and Postpartum stages. Travelers must be comfortable with all phases of labor and postpartum care, including care of well babies. Common patient scenarios include postpartum hemorrhage, pre-eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, bilirubin babies, NAS babies, and feeders/growers. Travelers may also encounter MSU surgical patient overflows, treating low acuity patients receiving IV antibiotics or rehab care. Infectious patients and telemetry monitoring are not accommodated in this facility. The facility encourages rooming in for postpartum care. PPE requirements include N95 masks and PAPRs during COVID-19 precautions. Patient ratios are 1:1 for active labor, 1:2 for laboring, and 1:3-4 for couplets. Skills required include managing shoulder dystocia, epidural management, nitrous for pain relief, and intrathecal spinal analgesia. Travelers will only need to enter C-sections to catch babies and provide neonatal care; circulating C-sections is not required. Newborn care includes monitoring vitals, thermoregulation, managing hypoglycemia, and caring for bilirubin and NAS babies. Support on the unit includes available Charge Nurse, Hospitalists, and Phlebotomy staff 24/7. The charting system used is Cerner, with medication management done through Alaris and Pyxis. Floating to MS or ED for tasks may be required, without patient assignments. Weekend rotations are part of the scheduling. Management approval is required for time off requests. Holiday expectations include working every other holiday. Scrub colors are flexible, with procedural scrubs provided as needed for OR cases.
