Job Description:
*Hiring Range: $34 to $37 hourly*The Senior Property Accountant
is responsible for the timely and accurate creation and maintenance
of financial statements for an assigned portfolio of properties,
and acts as a resource to Staff Accountants. The Senior Property
Accountant also supports the Property Accounting Manager and other
departmental leadership in assuring that Champlain Housing Trust's
corporate financial activity is managed accurately and
effectively.*Essential Job Responsibilities** Assures the timely
entry of all financial information in assigned portfolio in
accordance with state and federal requirements and GAAP.* Prepares
monthly financial reports for assigned properties and participates
in regular review and basic analysis of same with Property
Accounting Manager.* Supports the Property Accounting Manager in
reviewing monthly and quarterly financial and annual audit packets
for Staff Accountants.* Supports property and asset management in
the preparation of property budgets.* Contributes to the
development of financial services policies and procedures.*
Supports department leadership in assuring that adequate accounting
controls are in place to safeguard Champlain Housing Trusts
financial assets and those of its properties.* Supports property
and asset management staff in reporting financial results to
partners, investors, and regulators.* Develops internal financial
reports to support multiple departments' needs.* With the Property
Accounting Manager, acts as liaison for auditors in overseeing the
completion of all annual audits of property financial statements.*
With the Property Accounting Manager, acts as liaison for tax
accountants in overseeing the completion of annual tax returns of
partnerships, corporations, and not-for-profit entities.* Other
duties and projects as assigned.*Qualifications** Bachelors degree
in accounting, finance, or business.* Five or more years experience
in auditing, accounting, or financial management in nonprofit or
private sector required. Combination of education and experience
may be considered.* Experience leading a team and/or reviewing the
work of others is strongly preferred.* Experience using MS Office
and excellent technology skills strongly preferred.* Experience
with real estate documents/transactions, or property management
preferred.* Experience preparing financial statements in accordance
with GAAP, including notes to the financials is required.*
Experience preparing partnership, corporate, and not-for-profit tax
returns preferred.* Positive attitude and high level of
self-motivation required.* Commitment to social and economic
justice and the limited equity model of property ownership
required.*Competencies** Strong Knowledge of accounting principles
and practices.* Exceptional attention to detail and ability to
prioritize effectively.* Knowledge of legal and financial
procedures relative to various affordable housing programs.*
Excellent analytical, organizational, time-management, and
communication skills.* Excellent computer and technology skills,
and an aptitude for quickly learning new applications.* Strong
interpersonal skills and the ability to cultivate a collaborative
team.* Ability to exercise sound judgment and initiative in solving
problems.* Ability to exercise confidentiality, and relate to
internal and external parties in a professional manner.*_Physical

the physical and mental abilities to perform the essential job
