Medical True Benefit, An Amwins Group Company, is conducting a
candidate search for a Junior Underwriter, specializing in the
health insurance industry, to add to their growing team in
Branford, CT (near New Haven) or Farmington, CT (near Hartford).
This position will be a hybrid work arrangement. At True Benefit we
excel at crafting comprehensive strategies for employee benefit
programs, managing over $2.3 B of health care premiums for 150,000
insured employees nationwide. True Benefits parent is Amwins Group,
the largest wholesale brokerage and group insurance administrator
in the US with annual premiums of $44.5 billion. Position Overview
If you have a proven ability to assess situations quickly, apply
established protocols, and work well with others, we want you on
our team. We are looking for a detail oriented, critical thinker
who takes initiative and works consultatively with others. This
person will work efficiently and effectively to meet contracted
turnaround times when assessing risk on group medical health
insurance prospective clients. We look to our analysts to be the
best in the business, both analytically and in their ability to
communicate their findings. Responsibilities include but are not
limited to: Apply risk management principles to provide preparation
of rate quotations, product and benefit recommendations, with a
focus on evaluating group medical health insurance risk and
supporting appropriate premium development within established
underwriting and pricing guidelines. Develop and maintain effective
working relationships with the sales organization and health
insurance carrier partners by providing timely, accurate, and
reliable analytical support. Actively build industry and product
knowledge and support the sales team by learning and communicating
foundational pricing concepts, underwriting principles, and market
trends. Support departmental initiatives focused on improving
processes, procedures, and best practices to enhance efficiency,
consistency, and service delivery. Perform analytical and
data-driven reviews using standard productivity and analytical
tools to evaluate historical performance, identify trends, and
assist in uncovering opportunities for improvement. We are looking

decision-making skills Well-developed verbal and written
communication skills, strong math or financial skills Ability to
work well in team-based environment and adapt in a rapidly changing
environment Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills Basic data
analytics and PowerBI/Tableau skills a plus Bachelor's degree in
Business or other applicable major No prior health benefits
experience necessary, 0-1 years of internship experience in an

Connecticut Pay Range $58,000—$65,000 USD
