Job Description:
Mitchell College seeks to hire an Admissions Counselor who will
be responsible for the implementation of recruitment activities and
strategies to meet the institution’s new student enrollment goals,
in a highly competitive environment. Reporting to the Executive
Director of Admissions, the Admissions Counselor is responsible for
all aspects of outreach, recruitment and the admissions process for
new students to the college, and must represent the college with
the utmost of professionalism at all times. The primary goal is to
recruit students, in a highly individualized manner that includes
building exceptional relationships with prospective students and
families, establishing and leveraging referral networks and
pipelines to promote the college, including school counselors,
independent consultants, and community-based organizations.
Additionally, this position will ensure a seamless transition for
prospective students through all phases of the recruitment process,
including application, decision, enrollment and new student
orientation. The Admissions Counselor will be expected to
collaborate on and execute innovative recruitment strategies, in
addition to the College’s traditional efforts. Recruitment
activities include off-campus recruitment events, campus-based
events and programs, virtual programming, tele-recruiting and
digital outreach. The position requires someone who is capable of
working with a high level of autonomy to successfully expand
Mitchell College’s recruitment efforts in the assigned territory.
Responsibilities and Duties: Represents the College by
demonstrating the highest standards of integrity and professional
conduct, adhering to the Guide to Ethical Practice in College
Admission established by the National Association of College
Admissions Counselors (NACAC). Promotes the College through travel
to college fairs and high school visits, presentations, meetings,
social media, online and on-campus events. Conducts meetings,
counseling, visit coordination, financial aid coordination, and
follow-up for prospective students and families. Develops and
carries out individualized recruitment strategies aligned with the
overall strategic recruitment plan. Meets assigned recruitment
goals in an assigned territory by assessing individual progress
toward goals using data while simultaneously contributing to the
overall strategic operation of the department Exercises sound
stewardship of college resources. Develops and maintains a robust
referral network of independent, public/private school counselors,
and public/private/nonprofit and alumni resources capable of
helping achieve recruiting goals. Assesses student applicants for
admissibility throughout the yearly admission cycle; provides
decisions in a timely fashion; conducts student interviews to
determine potential compatibility with the college; and generates
written student interview reports. Provides regular outreach to
students regarding required application, financial aid, and
enrollment documentation. Engages in campus tours and on campus
events, such as Open Houses, Accepted Student Days, and various
virtual events. Contributes to the development of enrollment
strategies accessing, interpreting, and applying data to make
decisions that will positively impact the recruitment and retention
of students. Maintains confidentiality of all information submitted
by students and their parents. Masters, uses, and leverages
technologies to support student recruitment and communication.
Enters data into and uses the CRM to support recruitment, tracking,
reporting and communication with prospective students. Maintains
up-to-date comprehensive and effective working knowledge of
federal, state and college regulations and recruitment messages,
facts, and policies. Collaborates campus-wide, specifically with
Academics, Student Affairs, and Athletics, regarding the
recruitment and retention of students. Be an active and positive
member of the admissions and enrollment teams, demonstrating a

essential functions. Required Education and Experience: BA/BS
degree required. Excellent customer service skills, including
strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to
establish and maintain effective working relationships with
students, faculty, and staff. Ability to work independently is a
must, as well as being a part of a dynamic team. Ability to
prioritize tasks, organize work effectively, meet deadlines under
pressure, and work effectively as a team member. Ability to read,
analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional
journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability
to make presentations in public such as at campus open houses, high
school events, regional events and receptions, etc. Ability to
apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to solve
problems involving several concrete variables in standardized
situations. Experience using mobile technology and customer
relationship management (CRM) software. Extensive travel is
required, with evening and weekend work required. A valid driver’s
license is required. Key Skills / Knowledge: Competent user of
Microsoft Office including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel and
preferred use of higher education CRM software (i.e. Technolutions
– SLATE) Competent user of email, mobile devices and applications,
presentational software, social media and web enabled technologies
to maintain complete and accurate records using data bases, notes,
files, automated calendars and web enabled tools so that others can
readily interpret and understand the status of a prospective or
current student at any given time. Excellent presentation and
communications skills, both written and verbal. Attention to
details and ability to anticipate and plan/take initiative.
Organized and able to manage one’s time and prioritize within a
fast-paced and goal driven environment. Preferred: Bilingual in
English/Spanish (fluent in speaking and writing) Experience
planning and implementing special promotional activities and events
both on- and off-campus, including Group visits, School Counselor
programming, virtual recruitment programming, and large-scale
campus events. Experience coordinating a call center to provide the
highest level of responsive customer service. Experience creating
and managing content and content calendar for sales-focused social
media accounts. Please note that this is a fully in-person
