Description: Position Summary Spend your summer outdoors playing
games as a Camp Counselor at Keene Family YMCA's Adventure or
Sports Camps! In this seasonal role you will provide supervision
for a group of children in grades 2-8, while ensuring a positive,
nurturing, and inclusive experience for all. This is a full-time,
seasonal position, running from June 17th-August 23rd. The Y's
Adventure Camp takes campers out on mini-adventures each day,
exploring local hiking trails, mountains, beaches and more. 2024
Sports Camps include Soccer Camp and a Mixed Sports Camp. OUR

stronger beginning with you. Essential Functions of the Specialty
Camp Counselor Leads energizing, fun, culturally aware and safe
camp activities and field trips. Provides direct supervision and
instruction to camp participants in accordance with established
guidelines. Assists with planning and creating lesson plans. Builds
meaningful relationships with campers, families, and camp staff,
while exemplifying the Y's commitment to diversity, equity, and
inclusion, and the four core values of caring, honesty, respect,
and responsibility. Upholds all YMCA policies, procedures,
standards and abides by the code of conduct. Projects a positive,
enthusiastic, and professional image while on the job.
Requirements: Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age or older.
High School diploma or equivalent (if applicable) Ability to
perform duties with professionalism, enthusiasm, kindness, empathy,
honesty, and respect Ability to relate effectively to diverse
groups of people from all social and economic backgrounds Desire to
work with school-age children Behavior management skills Effective
verbal communication skills Ability to be flexible and multi-task
Experience in one or more of the following is preferred: outdoor
living/education, music, theatre arts, swim instruction or
lifeguard certification, youth sports, physical education, or
creative arts Successful completion of CPR/First Aid/AED
Certification and Child Abuse Prevention training prior to camp
start date Preferred Qualifications 5 years of experience working
with youth Early Childhood Education credits Degree in education,
recreation, psychology, social work or equivalent Certification,
extensive training, or work experience in DEI About Us The Keene
