Due to ambitious growth plans, we are seeking to expand our Submarine Engineering team at Managing and Principal level. As a senior member of the team, you will provide high-level submarine technical expertise and professionalism to our UK and overseas clients. You will also develop new business and contribute to our internal R&D work on future submarine design concepts. You will lead the development and delivery of technical solutions for our submarine customers and will use your understanding of submarine engineering to provide Subject Matter Expertise across a range of related projects, both in the domestic market and overseas. As a Principal Submarine Engineer you will also have opportunity to lead and line manage junior members of staff, supporting the technical delivery of their work and their ongoing professional development. As an employee within BMT's Naval Engineering Department, you will also have the opportunity to contribute to the delivery of projects across our full portfolio including Surface Ships and a range of broader Consulting Projects within our other market areas. What are we looking for? To be successful in the role you will have:

• Significant marine or naval engineering experience, preferably in the defence domain;
• A HNC/HND/Foundation Degree or Bachelors/Masters degree or postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline i.e. Mechanical, Electrical or Marine related subject or appropriate naval experience;
• Chartered Engineer status--with a recognised professional body or a demonstrable route to achieving this;
• Experience in understanding a customers' needs and producing statements of work.
• Experience and the ability to lead technical projects and work-packages.
• Experience of technical governance approaches and checking and certification responsibility.
• Experience in supervising and managing a team.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good interpersonal, reporting and presentation skills - the ability to communicate at all levels in an organisation.
• Ability to coach and mentor less experienced staff.
• Ability to receive and give feedback.
• Flexibility to be deployed on a range of projects and customer sites due to your breadth of technical skills and knowledge.
• Project management and/or technical leadership experience. Please note, the successful candidate must hold, or be eligible to obtain, UK security clearance to SC level. What can we offer you?
