Job Description:
We are currently seeking a Mid-level Air Quality Engineer in Boston
MA to support a wide variety of environmental projects however will
consider applicants on the East Coast only in Hartford CT, Edison
NY, NY NY, Wayne PA or Florida. The preferred candidate will have
extensive field and office experience working as a task manager
leading complex field programs, preparing planning documents and
preparing reports for environmental characterization and air
quality projects. The preferred candidate will have a desire to
advance their career as task leader.
As a member of this team, you would contribute to CDM Smith's
mission by:
--- Performing air quality impact evaluations for incorporation
into Environmental Impact Reports (CEQA) and Environmental Impact
Statements (NEPA)
--- Preparing project-level air emissions inventories of greenhouse
gases, as well as criteria and hazardous air pollutants for
municipal utilities, power plants, industrial, landfills and
transportation clients.
--- Conducting air dispersion modeling and risk assessments
--- Preparing air permit applications for permits to construct
(PSD, NSR), and permits to operate (Title V) regulated
facilities
--- Preparing technical documents including annual GHG reports and
NESHAP/NSPS compliance reports for Title V reporting.
--- Conducting regulatory reviews and compliance/strategy
evaluations
--- Conducting air pollution control technology evaluations

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering
or related discipline. Certification as an Engineer in Training
(EIT) or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam in
states where an EIT is not obtainable (within 18 months of hire or
promotion or transfer). 5 years of related experience. Domestic
and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of
travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the
essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on
workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly
related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
--- Three to four years of air quality related experience is a
plus. Knowledge of commonly used computer software (Microsoft Word,
Excel, Outlook) expected.
--- Knowledge of chemistry and environmental regulations
(especially pertaining to air quality and greenhouse gas)
--- Ability to work well independently and in a team
environment
--- Experience using USEPA emission models (e.g., TANKS, MOVES,
AP-42, WATER9) and dispersion models (e.g., SCREEN3, AERMOD,
CALPUFF)

Skills and Abilities:
Expert Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D
and 4D software and practices. Expert Knowledge of engineer
principles of design. Expert Knowledge of Microsoft business
software (excel, word, etc.). Excellent verbal and written
communications skills.
