Fleet Operations Manager

Job Description:

The Fleet Operations Manager oversees the functioning of the equipment rate charge system, telematic system, mechanical work order system, asset inventory system and has central oversight of fleet vehicle activities along with the corporate Mechanical Department adminstrative functions. Works in partnership with Director of Mechanical and Equipment Managers with a focus on supporting our field operations.
Responsibilities:
Including but not limited to:
- Work closely with and provides support to Director, Equipment Operations Manager and Equipment Managers
- Responsible for JD Edwards (JDE) equipment module; application, development / enhancement
- Collaborates with Operational Support and IT groups to provide technical support and guidance on JDE equipment module, functionality, integrations, and reporting
- Provide training and support on JDE equipment module and Lane Machine Charge (MC) Rate system
- Assist in preparing annual MC equipment budget(s) (shared with Equipment Managers)
- Collaborates with Operational Support and IT groups to provide technical support and guidance on equipment rate charge system, HCSS Equipment 360 platform, and other equipment management tools (current and future)
- Provide training and support for our field users on HCSS Equipment 360 application and Qtanium telematics platform
- Maintain equipment reports; application, development / enhancement
- Provide support to the Equipment Managers on life cycle analysis of our equipment assets
- Provide support to the Equipment Managers in development of the annual and long-term equipment plans & budgets
- Work with equipment management team to develop and report KPI's for equipment and fleet activity
- Lead the annual year-end equipment inventory process (preparation, communication and follow up / close out)
- Maintain equipment insurance values in JDE and ensure these are shared with the Risk group on a regular basis
- Central oversight of our fleet management activity including partnering w/our fleet management company
- Partner with our field Mechanical teams to ensure we are following FMCSA requirements for our commercial vehicles
- Maintain Lane Equipment Management Policy Manual (EMPM) - update as needed with input from Mechanical team
- Oversee / supervise Cheshire Mechanical Dept. administrative function
- Provide service and support to field operations and Mechanical teams
- Carry out job duties while maintaining Lane values
- And other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business Management preferred
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical and equipment systems management and related tools / applications
- 5+ years of field experience involving heavy civil construction projects and related equipment activity, preferred
- 3+ years of experience in vehicle fleet management, preferred
- Knowledge of large ERP system
- Strong Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills and other MS applications as needed
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels
