directs the delivery of nursing care, treatment, and services. This
individual manages unit managers, work assignments and performance
for all Nursing Department employees. The position also provides
effective leadership, evaluates unit program objectives and
Performance Improvement activities, and realigns work as
needed.QualificationsEducation
- Possess a postgraduate degree in nursing or a related
field
- Or the knowledge and skills associated with an advanced
degree;
- Or a written plan to obtain these qualifications.Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years progressive leadership experience,
demonstrated managerial ability, interpersonal relationships and
application of sound administrative
principles.Licenses/Certifications
- Licensed in state of employment
- Specialty Certification preferred
- CPR Certification (within 3 months of hire)
- CPI Certification (within 3 months of hire)Compliance
- Corporate Compliance (within 2 months of
hire)ResponsibilitiesKEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Organize, direct, and administer Nursing Department in order to
provide the level of care required by state, federal and other
regulatory agencies.
- Coordinate the development of hospital-wide plans to provide
nursing care, treatment, and services.
- Coordinate the development of hospital-wide programs, policies
and procedures that address how the nursing care needs of the
patient population are assessed, met, and evaluated.
- Coordinate the development of an effective, ongoing program to
measure, analyze, and improve the quality of nursing care,
treatment, and services.
- Direct the implementation of hospital-wide plans to provide
nursing care, treatment, and services.
- Direct the implementation of hospital-wide programs, policies,
and procedures that address how the nursing care needs of the
patient population are assessed, met, and evaluated.
- Direct the implementation of an effective, ongoing program to
measure, analyze, and improve the quality of nursing care,
treatment, and services.
- Supervise department managers in the coordination of the
employee selection process, work assignments, performance
evaluations, and staff development.
- Recommend and support programs of education and training,
including orientation of new employees.
- Encourage and facilitate the professional advancement of
employees by affording opportunity for further education and
experience.
- Direct and oversee the practice of Infection Control and
Employee Health.
- Assume an active leadership with the hospital's governing body,
senior leadership, medical staff, management, and clinical
directors in the hospital's decision-making structure.
- Participate in established meetings with senior clinical and
managerial leaders.
- Monitor, oversee, and direct the quality and appropriateness of
all documentation to ensure compliance with all Joint Commission
and CMS standards applicable to Nursing Department.
