This and other physician jobs brought to you by DocCafe.com Hospitalist opening in Maine Located in Farmington, ME 85 miles to Bangor, ME Service area of 40,000 people Full time, permanent opening Hospital is seeking a Board Certified/Eligible Hospitalist to join our current highly-skilled Hospitalist team of six physicians and one nurse practitioner. The Hospitalists service has a daily census of 20-25 patients. The schedule is 7 days on and 7 days off. There are three shifts; days (6a-5p), swing (8a-7p) and nights (7p-6a). Hospitalists care for patients admitted with medical diagnoses. Hospitalists also admit and stabilize orthopedic and surgical patients in preparation for surgery, as well as manage their medical conditions post operatively. Preoperative and ED consultative services are provided by the Hospitalists. Our Hospitalists also provide critical care, including ventilator management, for a 5 bed intensive care unit. The ability to perform procedures including intubation, central line placement, lumbar puncture, paracentesis and thoracentesis is preferred.Farmington, Maine is a rural college town, an hour and a half north of Portland and home to the University of Maine at Farmington, one of the best liberal arts colleges in the nation. The area is within an hour drive of three ski resorts and offers four seasons of outdoor recreation with many lakes, rivers and streams as well as hills and mountains. The areas progressive medical staff affords excellent colleague interaction and referral relationships.
