This is a Full-Time, 17-week, temporary position. The anticipated start date is January 4, 2021.Job Summary:Reporting to the Director of Health Services the Medical Assistant (MA) is a trained licensed professional who is a member of the Health Services team. In the ambulatory care setting, the Medical Assistant provides nursing care that is not limited to but includes: Preparing test kits for distribution for departmental, individual, or other testing methods. Performing testing, coordinates testing through the testing lab utilized, distribute kits, provide support for testing-this could be walk-up, walk-thru, drive-up, drive-thru. Answers questions in relation to COVID testing, results, location, hours, assist in the quarantine/isolation process for students. The applicant must have the ability to stand for extended periods of time.This is a Full-Time, 17-week, temporary position. The schedule will be set on a week to week basis by LPN and Director of Health Services depending on the needs of COVID 19 support and testing efforts, as well as the Health Center, needs. Nights and weekends will be expected on a rotating basis with other Healthcare support staff.These are the basic responsibilities and are the standards that define a measure for determining the quality of care that the MA provides. The MA uses their skills within the MA scope of practice as defined by the New Hampshire Society of Medical Assistants for planning, implementation, and evaluation under the supervision of a Licensed Physician, Advanced Practice Nurse, or the Health Services Director.* Communicates effectively with the health care team to improve student care.* Demonstrates student advocacy, assuring students' rights to privacy, safety, and confidentiality. * Acts as a role model in all aspects of public conduct, for students and staff, within the health center and the community.* Participate in general departmental planning efforts.* Participates in developing and presenting educational outreach programs for students.Responsibilities include:Non-COVID related:* Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records.* Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.* Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height.* Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.* Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician.* Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.* Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, or physicians' instructions to patients.* Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.* Perform general office duties, such as answering telephones, taking dictation, or completing insurance forms.* Greet and log in patients arriving at the office or clinic.* Schedule appointments for patients.* Contact medical facilities or departments to schedule patients for tests or admission.* Inventory and order medical, lab, or office supplies or equipment.* Operate electrocardiogram (EKG), or other equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests (when applicable).* Set up medical laboratory equipment.COVID-19 related:* Preparing test kits for distribution for departmental, individual, or other testing methods. * Coordinates schedule and processing of observed and unobserved testing through various vendors* Performing COVID testing under the supervision of the Director of Health Services* Provide medical and administrative support for testing-this could be walk-up, walk-thru, drive-up, drive-thru. * Answers questions in relation to COVID testing, results, location, hours.* Ability to understand, explain, follow guidelines per NH DHHS and CDC.* Assist in the quarantine/isolation process for students. * The applicant must have the ability to stand for extended periods of time.* The applicant must be able to lift 50lbs of weightExperience and Qualifications:* Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program, we encourage the application of new graduates.
