Bliss 5 is a 42-bed inpatient Medical/Surgical unit, which is part
of the Hartford HealthCare Heart & Vascular Institute at Hartford
Hospital. Nurses on Bliss 5 care of a diverse patient population,
including patients who have underwent Vascular, Thoracic,
Cardiothoracic, and Trauma surgery. Other patients cared for on
Bliss 5 include patient's pre and post cardiac catheterization,
patients who are pre-operative open-heart surgery, congestive heart
failure patients and other cardiac patients requiring monitoring.
The pace is professionally challenging, stimulating and a
supportive learning environment.
Our registered clinical nurse leader's work in collaborative
environments with strong interdisciplinary teams, focused on a
patient centered care model in a richly diverse work space. Under
the direction and general supervision of the Nurse Manager, the
clinical nurse leader utilizes evidence based practices in
accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, policies and
procedures of the hospital and as directed by the medical staff.
The clinical nurse leader who through knowledge and ability uses
the nursing process to develop a plan of care which includes
standards of practice to meet the physical, emotional spiritual,
cultural and educational needs of the patient and family. The
clinical nurse leader is recognized as professional role model and
clinical expert who delegates and supervises work appropriately
reporting to Nurse Manager.

Qualifications --- Current Connecticut RN License.
--- Graduate of an accredited nursing school (BSN required).
--- Minimum three years nursing experience.
--- BLS certification by the American Heart Association and proof
of Arrhythmia Certification required prior to date of hire.
Exceptions to the educational requirement will be evaluated on an
individual basis. For example, a strong candidate in the process of
completing the educational requirement will be considered.
Continued progress toward completion of the educational requirement
within five years will be required.
