Job Description:
Summary
The Administrative Vice President works collaboratively with a team
of key clinical and administrative executives who together are
charged with full responsibility and accountability for advancing
and supporting all aspects of the quadruple aim as they relate to
the population served. This leader is charged with executing the
MaineHealth three-part mission, and explicitly work toward
realizing the metrics of the system and southern region balanced
scorecard.
The Vice President's work efforts are centered on the patients
served, transforming care by ensuring improved access to care,
decreased variation in care delivery, removing waste from care
delivery, and optimizing the patient experience while supporting
the academic and research mission. The Vice President engages in,
and informs strategic planning; is on point with all regulatory and
fiscal requirements of the program; generates and informs operating
and capital budgets; and effectively recruits and retains highly
qualified providers and physician scientists to support the
clinical/research enterprise. This leader may also be charged with
key direct operational areas of the unique clinical enterprise; and
as opportunities arise, will accept leadership duties as
assigned.
The scope of responsibility is inclusive of the Adult Medicine and
Emergency Medicine Service lines, and the departments of Medicine,
Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine and Psychiatry at Maine Medical
Center.
Essential Functions:
The Administrative VP will have an accomplished understanding of
the clinical needs of the population served.
Exceptional leadership skills, with proven ability to foster a
spirit of consensus and collaboration with a variety of clinical
and administrative stakeholders across organizational
boundaries.
When necessary, is comfortable and adept in leaning into conflict
and working issues through to resolution.
Serves in a consulting capacity for Service Line decisions related
to physician recruitment, deployment, compensation planning, as
well as the definition and administration of physician performance
incentives.
Supports the Chair in their roles related to academic strategy and
portfolio management.
Appraises and analyzes the qualifications and performance of others
as well as the ability to direct their activities; dedication and
commitment to mentoring direct reports and other team members.
Be flexible and nimble in an evolving, complex system and to lead
via influence versus authority, working with leaders both at MMC,
MH and within the communities we serve.
Facilitates teams through cultural and organizational change.
Serves in a consulting capacity for the Chair in his/her roles
relating to the definition and allocation of academic resources;
the initiation, expansion or discontinuation of academic
partnerships and the assignment and deployment of faculty
learners.
Supports the Chair in their role in establishing the criteria and
qualifications for clinical privileging.
Collaborates with the SL team on work efforts with Marketing and
Communications related to overall strategy, branding, outreach
communication and activities media campaigns, and website
content.
Uses their advanced technical skills in utilizing desktop
applications and databases to generate SL specific reports to
inform clinical and business analysis and strategy.
Responsible for serving as the key SL liaison with the Risk and
Patient Safety Department as well as Patients and Guest
Relations.
Requirements:
Graduate degree in related field (MD, RN, MBA, MHA, MA, or MS)
preferred.
7 years of progressive senior administrative leadership experience
directly in health care required. Experience must be inclusive of
working and collaborating closely with more senior management and
physician leadership and solving complex problems, demonstrating
creative and innovative thinking, and incorporating external and
internal best practices in providing solutions, and using data to
drive quality improvement.
Experience in leading strategic clinical program and business
planning and quality assurance.
Supervisory, management and collaboration skills, with physicians,
nurses and administrators.
