Position Summary
Maine Medical Center has Cardiac Sonographer positions available
that provide growth opportunity in many areas of advanced cardiac
sonography. We have a dynamic and growing team that is committed to
high quality, patient centered care.
Our echo lab supports many of our subspecialty cardiology teams
such as the advanced valve clinic, congenital cardiology, VAD and
transplant team, cardiac procedures such as TAVR, MitraClip,
watchman and more. Our team and organization creates the perfect
environment to grow as a sonographer.
Sonographers are responsible for using diagnostic medical equipment
to assist with the diagnosis of various cardiac conditions, while
maintaining the highest standards of patient care and proficiency
with appropriate clinical protocols.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Education: Graduate of an approved school of sonography or
equivalent combination of training and experience to be eligible
for registration as a Cardiac Sonographer through ARDMS or CCI.
License/Certifications: Registered as a Cardiac Sonographer through
the American Registry of Diagnostic and Medical Sonographers
(ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
Current BLS required or must be obtained within 3 months from start
of employment.
Experience: See "Education"
Meets all requirements of a Cardiac Sonographer II. Completion of
Level I usually achieved within 12 months of hire.
Knowledge of healthcare field and medical office
protocols/procedures.
Knowledge of crash cart emergency procedures and contents and
proper response to emergency situations.
Knowledge of safety, infection control and quality assurance
protocols.
Ability to support the technical director of the echo lab per ICAEL
guidelines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills necessary for
interacting with patients, physicians, supervisors and other
staff.
Ability to project a pleasant and professional image even under
stressful situations.
Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with
others, including ability to allay apprehension of patients and
elicit their cooperation.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Proficient computer skills.
