Position Summary: Responsibilities include: Operates medical imaging equipment that directs high frequency sound waves to anatomy for diagnostic purposes. Consistently obtain high quality imaging for Cardiologist interpretation. General understanding of Synapse Echocardiography computerized system and its function. Utilizes the Synapse Echocardiography system to write preliminary reports for the Cardiologist to review and edit as necessary for the final report. Documents patient care services in hospital electronic medical records. Ability to work independently and as a team member. Able to interact compassionately and effectively to provide quality patient care. Supports and promotes the values and mission of the organization. Courteous interaction with co-workers/peers. Position Specific Competencies: Equipment: Demonstrates ability to operate Echo machines: This includes on/off, echocardiography technique, imaging display, annotation, andlabeling of a specific imaging view. Demonstrates the ability to understand and use color doppler, power doppler, spectral doppler, and M-mode. Demonstrates ability to perform portable exams. Sends images to Synapse. Performs all Echocardiography exams: Echocardiogram, Limited Echocardiogram, Stress Echocardiogram, and Transesophageal Echocardiogram. Demonstrates ability to evaluate images for quality and optimal demonstration of anatomic region and pathology for Cardiologist interpretation. Demonstrates ability to charge exam within EPIC Demonstrates knowledge in maintaining/recording information regarding the GUS, cleaning/storage of TEE probe, testing of Resert,and test strips (i.e., Date, room temperature, and storage of cleaning solutions). Echocardiography Workflow: Demonstrates ability in printing schedule and identifying appropriate use criteria for diagnosis/clinical information and completion of the referral process for exam orders. Follows up with Cardiologist and or Ordering Provider and front office staff if changes are needed. Demonstrates knowledge in-patient and out-patient orders/modifying/canceling exams, daily reconcile of DTAR, and HIN (verification of past exams). Demonstrates ability in a profession and pleasant manner to pleasantly greet, confirm patient s name, date of birth, patient s understanding of test ordered, confirmation of prep, needed if stress echo stress test, review allergies, and quick description of test being performed prior to imaging. Knowledge of Peripheral IV placement if indicated for exam (i.e., Agitated saline study, Definity, and stress echo). Echocardiographer may place IV if certification requirements have been met per St. Joseph policy. Demonstrates knowledge of Synapse system for specific exam performed to complete a preliminary report to be interpreted by Cardiologist. PACS & Synapse: Demonstrates knowledge of Synapse & PACS system. Demonstrates ability to send study images from echo machine to PACS to outside facility (i.e., EMMC) for continuation of patient care. Qualifications Years of Experience: Minimum of 2 yrs exp Certification(s): BLS within 30 days of hire Registration(s): Appropriate credential in echocardiography (must have one of the following): 1. Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography 2. Registered Cardiac Sonographer from Cardiovascular Credentialing International 3. Canadian Registered Cardiac Sonographer Canadian Association of Registered Diagnostic Ultrasound Professionals Additional Information:If traveler resides within 50 miles of the facility a $10/hr decrease will apply Up to 16 hours of orientation is unpaid St. Joseph's can cancel up to 3 shifts per 13 week contract Position Billing string = Medefis Guaranteed Hours: 40 Contract Weeks:91
