per week About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse - Pediatric
Psychiatric Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Pediatric
Psychiatric Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift:
12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year of Behavioral Health nursing
experience required. Pediatric Behavioral Health experience
preferred. License: State License required. Certifications: BLS,
MOAB obtained on-site as part of orientation. Must-Have:
De-escalation experience, experience with physical restraints
(chemical restraints are not used), comfortability to run groups,
and documentation skills. Description: Immediate start needed.
Interviews will be simplified. Must be willing to float between all
pediatric and adult units as needed. This facility is a
free-standing acute inpatient facility with a contracted emergency
room nearby. All patients come from the emergency department and
are medically cleared. It is not typical to have lines, drains,
tubes, etc. Involuntary and voluntary admissions are accepted.
Patients ages range from 5-18 years for pediatrics and 18 for
adults, including geriatric patients. Common pediatric diagnoses
include Eating Disorders, Depression, Suicidal Ideation, Anxiety,
Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and
Gender Dysphoria. In adults, common diagnoses include
Schizophrenia, Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, along
with Eating Disorders, Suicidal Ideation, and Anxiety. There are no
forensic patients or inmates; this facility is locked but they do
not hold patients under arrest. Seclusion rooms are used when
necessary. Occasionally, patients with Substance Use Disorder or
detoxing patients may be present, but they must be medically
cleared. Traditional medical and psychiatric care will be provided
alongside specialized therapies such as pet therapy, group
sessions, and community gardens. Patient ratios are 1 nurse to 5-6
patients during the day and 1 nurse to 13 patients at night with
resource support. Psych Techs will be available, with 6 for
pediatrics during the day and 2 at night, and 2 for adults both
during the day and at night. Support on the unit includes a Nurse
Supervisor available on evenings and weekends, a Nurse Manager
during the day, and a House Administrator on call overnight and on
weekends. Charge nurses may have patient assignments, and
Psychiatrists will conduct daily rounds and be on call overnight.
Charting will be done using a specified electronic health record
system. Travelers will float between all units, adults and
pediatrics. Weekend rotation is every other weekend; Saturday and
Sunday. Holiday work is expected in rotation. Time off requests can
be accommodated up to 7 days if needed. Scrubs must be a solid
