Job Description Job Title: Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) – Corrections Location: Multiple CTDOC Facilities Position Type: Full-Time Contract Pay Rate: $85/hour – Paid Weekly Contract Length: Ongoing Overview: We are actively seeking experienced and dedicated Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs) to join the healthcare teams across several Connecticut Department of Correction (CTDOC) facilities. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact by delivering high-quality psychiatric care to a traditionally underserved population in a secure and structured environment. Key Responsibilities: - Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment plans for incarcerated individuals. - Prescribe psychotropic medications and manage medication regimens in accordance with state and federal regulations. - Monitor patients for therapeutic and adverse responses to medication and adjust treatment plans accordingly. - Collaborate with on-site mental health staff, custody staff, and other members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team. - Deliver individual therapy, crisis intervention, and psychoeducation as clinically appropriate. - Document all care accurately and in a timely manner in compliance with facility, state, and federal guidelines. - Promote a safe, therapeutic environment within the correctional setting, while maintaining professional boundaries. Schedule & Location Details: - Shift: Monday through Friday – 1st shift (7:00 AM–3:00 PM or 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, depending on facility) - Weekends: No weekend shifts required - Call Requirement: No on-call Qualifications: - Licensure: Active and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Connecticut - Certification: Must hold current PMHNP certification – general NP certification with psych experience does not qualify - Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant psychiatric nursing experience - BLS Certification: Must be current through AHA, ARC, or ASHI (ACLS not accepted) - Other Credentials: - Valid state and federal DEA registration - Current National Provider Identifier (NPI) - Resume, driver’s license, license verification, and two professional references - Signed Staff/Inmate Relationship Policy and Security Clearance Form - Hard copy of nursing license for credentialing Why Join Us? - Competitive Pay: $85/hour, paid weekly - No Weekends or On-Call Requirements - Contract Stability: Ongoing opportunity with consistent weekday hours - Comprehensive Support: Credentialing and compliance assistance provided - Accrued Sick Pay & Benefits Options Available - Rewarding Work: Be part of a team providing critical psychiatric care in a secure and unique clinical environment Ready to Make a Difference?
