Pay Information $2,386 per week About The Position Job Title: Emergency Room Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Nurse Duration: 8 Weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 40 Experience: Minimum 1 Year License: Current RN License Certifications: BLS Certification Required; ACLS Certification Preferred Must-Have: Immunizations Required Description: Current RN license is required. BSN is preferred. Current and unexpired certifications are necessary. Immunizations are required: varicella (2 doses or titer), HepB (3 doses or titer or declination), MMR (2 doses or titer), Tdap, PPD 2 step or titer within the past 12 months. Flu shot is required during flu season. Traveler will report to Human Resources on the first day for onboarding. Ability to problem solve is essential. Critical thinking skills are necessary. Effective verbal and written communication skills are needed. Knowledge base includes nursing assessment and skills for all age groups. Requires standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, stooping, crouching, bending, reaching, balance, lifting, and pushing patients in wheelchairs and stretchers. Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. Visual and hearing acuity sufficient to assess patients is required. Exposure to infectious diseases, blood borne pathogens, toxic cleaning chemicals, and fumes is possible. Performs initial age-appropriate nursing assessment. Completes ongoing age-appropriate reassessments. Completes discharge assessment to identify patient discharge needs. Identifies priorities for the delivery of nursing care. Develops and implements a plan of care based on patient needs and physician orders. Executes appropriate nursing actions to reach patient goals. Communicates patient care activities to healthcare team members. Updates healthcare team members on current status and any changes in the plan. Documents patient care activities in accordance with established standards and policies. Initiates specialty or supplemental nursing notes as appropriate. Assists with patient charges. Delivers patient care in accordance with hospital policies and within the scope of the state Nursing Practice Act. Ensures safety and wellness for patients and staff in the physical environment. Makes sure supplies and equipment are readily available and in safe working order. Reports situations involving questionable safety or legality promptly to nursing management. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to implement procedures in the event of an internal or external disaster. Demonstrates knowledge of drug administration and effects. Utilizes appropriate drug reference sources for drug information. Administers medications correctly utilizing the five rights through medication verification. Evaluates patient response to medications. Assesses need for patient or family education and provides teaching as indicated. Completes discharge plans and ensures patient or family understanding of the plan. Performs follow-up calls to patients. Assesses nursing care throughout the shift. Participates in meetings and bedside rounding with healthcare team members. Promotes professionalism and supportive behavior. Actively participates in quality improvement initiatives. Reports any quality issues in service delivery. Commits to a focus on quality improvement and organizational excellence. Expected to participate in emergency and disaster preparedness planning and drills.
