However, due to the specialized nature of IR procedures and the steep learning curve, full competency for new staff can take up to 12 months. In the interim, maintaining safe, efficient operations and full procedural coverage requires the continued use of experienced traveler technologists.B BackgroundIR is a high-acuity, procedure-driven department that relies on a skilled, knowledgeable team to ensure patient safety, clinical accuracy, and efficiency. Training new technologists involves extensive shadowing, equipment familiarization, procedural preparation, product and anatomy knowledge, and compliance with safety protocols. Historically, operating without adequate coverage during onboarding has led to procedure delays and increased staff burnout.
