care, expertise and new treatment options their patients require,
they turn to us. Hartford Hospital, Labor and Delivery, is a fast
paced 16 bed unit with an additional 5 triage rooms, 3 operating
rooms, and PACU. Delivering approximately 4,000 babies per year and
managing up to 500 triage visits per month we care for high risk
antepartum and obstetrical patients that may require extended stays
on Labor and Delivery for maternal cardiac telemetry, obstructive
sleep apnea management, preeclampsia with Magnesium, and postpartum
hemorrhage. Job Summary: 40-hour exempt supervisory position on the
night shift. Provides clinical care to patients as necessary to
meet unit needs. Reports directly to the Nurse Manager of Labor and
Delivery. Works collaboratively with the Managers of Maternity
(Bliss 6) and Women’s Health (North 8) to facilitate a smooth
transition of patient care and sharing of resources. Job
Responsibilities: Supports the Unit Manager in day to day
operations, supervision of staff, and conflict resolution. Provides
expert clinical care. Role models professionalism,
interdisciplinary collaboration and teamwork. Functions in the
Resource role as needed, utilizing resources effectively and
efficiently. Facilitates unit “Huddles”. Coaches and mentors staff.
Conducts staff counseling related to performance. Performs annual
employee evaluations in collaboration with the Nurse Manager and
ANM. Supports the patient experience through a patient/family
centered approach to decision making and practice, regular patient
rounding, monthly tracking of patient satisfaction data and
identifying opportunities. Assists Manager in managing change and
sustaining initiatives. Performs audits and monitors documentation

license BSN required, MSN preferred Certification in BLS
Certification in NRP Minimum of 3-5 years Women’s Health clinical
experience Cardiac Telemetry skills required Management or
supervisory experience preferred Strong verbal and written
communication skills Able to manage working in a busy environment
