JOB SUMMARY Functioning within the context of the framework for professional nursing practice, the Perinatal Safety Nurse serves as a collaborative member of the leadership team who oversees the current and future development, implementation and evaluation of site-specific obstetric patient safety, education and quality initiatives; Examples include, but are not limited to, the national perinatal patient safety bundles and the Joint Commission Elements of Performance for Maternal Safety. The Perinatal Safety Nurse also serves as a champion for the system-wide Maternal Quality and Safety Program including regular educational offering and responses to quality issues and trends. Qualifications Education: BSN required. MSN, DNP preferred. Experience: At least five (5) years of obstetric/labor and delivery experience. Previously functioned in the Perinatal Safety Nurse role preferred. Licensure, Certification, Registration: Connecticut State Nursing License Fetal Monitoring Certification NRP BLS OB Inpatient Certification preferred. ACLS preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements Working knowledge of implementation science. Background in designing and implementation of simulations. Knowledge of current prenatal care guidelines and practices Strong understanding of prenatal and maternal health Ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment Excellent observational and diagnostic skills Familiarity with the EPIC Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint and Excel) We take great care of careers.
