Manchester Region has approximately 2,500 employees. It includes
Manchester Memorial Hospital, a 249-bed community hospital,
Rockville General, a campus of Manchester Memorial Hospital, a
102-bed facility, a large multispecialty provider group and
visiting nurse services. The Greater Manchester Region serves a
region of 300,000 people in 19 towns. The Medical Imaging
(Radiology) RN Clinician will be responsible for representing ECHN
to the Radiology Intervention patient in both the outpatient and
inpatient setting. The Radiology nurse will report directly to the
Manager of Vascular and Cardiology Services and indirectly to the
Team Leader of Interventional Radiology. The Radiology RN Clinician
provides nursing care by assessing the patient pre-intra and-post-
procedure and assisting the Radiologist in the various diagnostic
radiology testing. Examples are: Interventional angiography, US
guided thorocentesis / paracentesis, CT guided biopsies and any pt
care needs that come up in the Medical Imaging Department. The
Radiology, RN Clinician, will administer moderate sedation and
other prescribed medication or pharmacological agents pre,intra
and-post- radiology procedure/imaging test. Participates in the
operational duties of the department, such as but not limited to;
Quality Improvement, Policy and Procedure maintenance, revising and
development of billing and gathering of statistical data,
developing departmental educational opportunities and participating
in the on-going growth and maintenance of the excellent customer
services provided to all that ECHN serves as well as assisting the
Manager in maximizing the department’s financial resources. The
Radiology RN Clinician also provides educational resources for
patients and assesses each patient for understanding of procedures,
post procedural education and lifestyle modifications necessary for
maintaining optimum health and assists the department in planning
and implementing new programs within the department. The Radiology
RN Clinician accepts on-call responsibilities for the Medical
Imaging Department. COMPETENCIES: · Must be proficient in cardiac
monitoring, administration of moderate sedation and be IV
competent. · Must have strong verbal and written English
communication skills in order to interface with staff and instruct

ability and readiness to learn by identifying and arranging
appropriate resources to assist in the educational process.

specialized discharge concerns. 4. Accurately completes necessary
documentation of all aspects of the nursing process on an ongoing
basis, in a timely manner, as per departmental policy and regularly
acts as a resource to others regarding documentation issues.

documentation process. 5. Plans nursing actions to ensure
individual patient-centered care, integrating family, patient,
and/or multidisciplinary staff assessments in order to develop a
comprehensive plan of care. Exemplary: Integrates and arranges for
collaborative meetings as needed. 6. Begins discharge on admission
and updates it throughout the hospitalization keeping the Case
Manager or Nursing units well informed of patient needs. Exemplary:
Anticipates complex discharge needs and intervene appropriately. 7.
Appropriately delegates duties and tasks to team members,
developing opportunities to promote growth of subordinates and/or
peers. Exemplary: Mentors team members to develop their maximum
potential within their scope of practice. 8. Uses therapeutic
interventions to implement the patient’s plan of care, implements
prescribed medical and psychosocial nursing interventions
appropriately and applies advanced nursing skills appropriately in
a variety of settings. Exemplary: Participates in the development
of standards, procedures, and/or policies. 9. Provides and/or
coordinates patient/family education, based on assessed needs,
creatively adjusting education to the patient’s needs and ensuring
adequate needs. Exemplary: Analyzes trends in the patient’s needs,
researches literature, contributes to the development of patient
education resources. 10. Consistently prepares and administers
medications and IV fluids accurately, according to departmental
policies while collaborating with the healthcare team to provide
appropriate medication for patient’s condition. Exemplary:
Identifies potential problems in medication administration and
makes recommendations for quality improvement measures. 11.
Consistently anticipates emergency situations and takes action to
prevent or minimize a negative outcome while demonstrating the
ability to organize and delegate appropriately in emergencies.
Exemplary: Takes appropriate action to improve the emergency
response system. 12. Evaluates the plan of care and patient’s
response to planned intervention and makes appropriate
modifications to the plan of care. Exemplary: Creatively designs
and implements interventions to minimize the patient’s length of
stay and maintains positive patient outcomes. Qualifications
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: · Must be a State of Connecticut licensed
Registered Nurse. · Must be trained and maintain Basic
Cardiac/Cardiopulmonary Life Support and ACLS certification.
EXPERIENCE: · Have a minimum of two (2) years of Critical Care
