Facility Information Facility: GSS SD Canton Center Location: Canton, SD Address: 1022 N Dakota St, Canton, SD 57013, USA Shift: Varies Job Schedule: Full-time Weekly Hours: 40.00 Salary Range: $18.50 - $25.50 Compensation Info: $4,000 Sign-On Bonus! Department Details This position involves working two 8-hour shifts and two 12-hour shifts, including every other weekend and holiday. Evening Shift: 2 PM to 10:30 PM Day Shift: 6 AM to 6:30 PM Additional Compensation: Night differential after 6 PM. Job Summary The Nursing Assistant (NA) acts as a caregiver for residents during their scheduled shifts in long-term care. This role involves delivering resident-centered nursing care and assisting with daily living activities under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). The NA is responsible for providing age-appropriate care that addresses both the physical and psychological needs of residents as outlined in their care plans. As a vital member of the nursing team, the NA is expected to adhere to infection prevention protocols and utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriately. Responsibilities include: Assisting with daily living activities such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting. Recording vital signs and providing psychosocial support. Helping residents with mobility, including transferring and repositioning using proper techniques. Facilitating a positive dining experience by assisting with meals and snacks. Documenting resident interactions and care outcomes. Communicating changes in residents' conditions to the charge nurse. Collecting non-invasive body fluid specimens and vital signs. Providing housekeeping and laundry services to maintain clean living areas. Encouraging participation in wellness and recreational programs. Engaging in departmental committees and task forces as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not mandatory. Minimum age requirement of 16 years. Previous experience as a clinical or nursing assistant in long-term care is preferred. Must possess a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification from the State Board of Nursing, or be state-certified within four months of starting the position by enrolling in a training program. CNA training and certification will be provided by the facility. Completion of annual department-specific competency testing and maintenance of continuing education credits, with a minimum of 12 hours required each year. For applicable states, certification and registration with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry may be required. This role may require a motor vehicle report and proof of a valid driver’s license, depending on facility needs.
