Facility Information Location: Canton, SD Address: 1022 N Dakota St, Canton, SD 57013, USA Shift: Varies Job Schedule: Full-time Weekly Hours: 40.00 Salary Range: $18.50 - $25.50 Sign-On Bonus: $4,000! Department Overview This role involves working two evening shifts of 8 hours and two day shifts of 12 hours, including every other weekend and holiday. Day Shift: 6 AM to 6:30 PM Evening Shift: 2 PM to 10:30 PM Position Summary The Nursing Assistant (NA) acts as a caregiver for residents during their scheduled shifts in a long-term care setting. This role involves delivering resident-focused nursing care and assistance with daily living activities under the guidance of a registered nurse (RN). The NA is responsible for providing age-appropriate care that addresses both the physical and psychological needs of residents as outlined in their care plans. As a vital member of the nursing team, the NA is expected to adhere to infection prevention protocols and the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Responsibilities include: Assisting with basic health care needs such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting. Recording vital signs and offering psychosocial support. Helping residents with mobility, including transferring and repositioning using appropriate techniques and equipment. Facilitating dining experiences by assisting with meals and ensuring a pleasant atmosphere. Documenting resident interactions and care outcomes, and communicating any changes in condition to the charge nurse. Collecting non-invasive body fluid specimens and vital signs. Providing housekeeping and laundry services to maintain clean living environments. Encouraging participation in wellness and recreational programs. Engaging in departmental committees and task forces as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) is preferred but not mandatory. Minimum age requirement is 16 years. Previous experience as a clinical or nursing assistant in long-term care is preferred. Must possess a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification from the State Board of Nursing or obtain it within four months of starting the position by enrolling in a training program. Completion of annual department-specific competency testing and maintenance of continuing education credits, with a minimum of 12 hours required each year. For applicable states, registration with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry is required. This position may require a valid driver’s license and a motor vehicle report, depending on facility needs.
