Registered Nurse (RN) | Psych Location: Bangor, ME Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,486 per week Shift Information: 4 days x 10 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 3/2/2026 About the Position TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Psych RN in Bangor, Maine, 04401! Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Pediatric Psychiatry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 2 PM - 11:30 PM Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 1 year of Behavioral Health nursing required. Pediatric Behavioral Health experience preferred. License: State License required. Certifications: BLS; MOAB obtained on-site as part of orientation. Must-Have: De-escalation experience, experience with physical restraints, medication administration, comfortability leading group sessions, and documentation skills. Description: ASAP start needed. Free-standing acute inpatient facility. All patients come from an emergency department and are medically cleared. Involuntary and voluntary admissions are accepted. Patient ages range from 5 to 18 years for pediatrics and 18 for adults. Common pediatric diagnoses include eating disorders, depression, suicidal ideation, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, and gender dysphoria. Common adult diagnoses include schizophrenia, major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, suicidal ideation, and anxiety. There are no forensic patients or inmates; the facility is locked but does not hold patients under arrest. Seclusion rooms are used if necessary. Occasionally, patients with substance use disorders or those detoxing may be seen, provided they are medically cleared. Traditional medical and psychiatric care will be provided, along with specialized therapies such as pet therapy, group sessions, and community gardens. Patient ratios are RN 1:5-6 during the day, and 1:13 at night with resource support. Psych tech support includes 6 techs for pediatrics during the day and 2 at night, and 2 techs for adults during the day and night. Support on the unit includes a nurse supervisor available in the evenings and weekends, and a nurse manager available during the day. A nurse practitioner is on-site until 4 PM and on call overnight. The psychiatrist conducts daily rounds and is available on call from midnight to 6 AM. Occupational therapy services are available seven days a week, and security personnel on site do not respond to patient escalations. The charting system used is Cerner, with Pyxis for medication management. Floating may occur between pediatric and adult units. Weekend rotations are required every other weekend. Holiday work is expected. Approval of time off is limited to seven days and adjustments may be needed to accommodate scheduling.
