(CST) Certification and minimum 2 years Surgical Tech / Operating
Room Tech experience required. Applicants who do not meet these
qualifications will not be considered. A surgical technologist
plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and safe conduct of
invasive surgical procedures. Working under the direct supervision
of a surgeon, this position demands precision, attention to detail,
and a strong commitment to patient safety in the operating room
environment. The technologist is responsible for preparing and
maintaining sterile fields, handling instruments and supplies, and
assisting surgeons throughout the procedure. Key responsibilities
include: Checking supplies and equipment required for each surgical
procedure Scrubbing, gowning, and gloving self, surgeon, and
assistants Performing instrument and sponge counts with the
circulator before and after surgery Assisting in draping the
sterile field and passing instruments to the surgeon Maintaining
strict sterile technique standards Assisting with terminal cleaning
of the surgical suite and preparing instruments for sterilization
Helping orient and train new employees and students in the scrub
tech role Desired qualifications and experience: Completion of
Trade or Technical School program, certificate or diploma in
surgical technology Certification by the National Board of Surgical
Technology and Surgical Assisting required At least one year of
prior experience preferred Location: Orono, ME Orono is a charming
