patients from birth through the end of life. We are looking for a
Registered Nurse to work in the NICU in the Family Birth Place. The
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is staffed by a
multidisciplinary care team that includes board-certified
neonatologists (pediatricians specializing in the care of premature
and sick newborns); certified pediatric physician assistants; and
neonatal nurses. Job Summary Under the general direction of Nursing
Leadership and in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, the
Registered Nurse utilizes evidence-based practices in accordance
with the State Nurse Practice Act, and policies and procedures of
the hospital. This position develops a plan of care for complex,
multi-varianced population of patients, which includes standards of
practice to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and
educational needs of the patient and family. Qualifications
Education · Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. ·
Associate’s degree in Nursing. · Successful completion of nurse
residency, if applicable. Experience · One year of experience with
a minimum of 1000 hours of clinical experience as a licensed
registered nurse. Licensure, Certification, Registration ·
Registered Nurse, State of CT · Certified BLS Provider credentialed
from the American Heart Association (AHA) · Additional
certifications may be required in specific specialties Language
Skills Must be able to effectively communicate information in
English. Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements · Applies the
principles and practices of nursing. · Membership in a professional
nursing organization preferred. · Demonstrated ability to develop,
deliver and evaluate patient care. · Cares for a full patient
assignment with expanding scope of responsibilities over time. ·
Knowledge of high reliability. · Strong communication skills, both
verbal and written. Uses communication skills to foster a healthy
work environment and facilitate positive patient outcomes and
experience. · Demonstrates cultural sensitivity in all interactions
with patients/families and co-workers. · Strong knowledge of and
demonstrated skills in providing care for age specific populations.
· Strong ability to work as part of a collaborative team. · Ability
to act as a preceptor and charge nurse as needed. · Self-directed
in clinical responsibilities. · Ability to manage and organize
multiple clinical priorities. · Strong computer skills and use of
industry applications/programs. Ability to learn new technology and
programs as advancements and changes are implemented. The Hospital
