Job Description:

will act as a liaison between clinical units, case management, bed
management, providers, staffing office and nursing leadership to
help facilitate efficient nursing operations and patient
throughput. Collaboration with Bed Management on the placement of
admissions and transfers in accordance with clinical standards and
guidelines will be essential. They will monitor performance using
best practice measures to drive operational excellence as well as
display strong analytical skills with an emphasis on operational
logistics with collegial interpersonal and change leadership
skills. On the off shift, the ADN will focus on providing
supervision for clinical operations and act as a liaison for
management support services. They will direct and supervise the
work of Patient Care Service associates hospital wide while
providing leadership, acting as a role model for staff, rounding
throughout the hospital, promoting adherence to Standards of
Professional Behavior and HRO/CHAMP behaviors. They will assist in
conflict resolution, support the process of critical thinking for
associates, and promote a patient focused environment to enhance
safe quality patient care. The off-shift ADN will collaborate with
Bed Management for the placement of admissions and transfers in
accordance with the clinical standards and guidelines and ensure
appropriate utilization of clinical services and resources.

between multiple teams to ensure integration of operational
improvement efforts of the PCS portfolio within the greater

by managing the appropriate use of beds and clinical services.
Works in collaboration with Bed Management using surge criteria and
bed placement best practices to ensure smooth, efficient, and safe
operations. - 5. Is readily available to provide onsite, hands-on
assistance to facilitate the change process and assure
sustainability. Accessibility and availability includes having a
presence 24/7, as necessary for project success, to frontline care
providers and administrative support staff. - 6. Searches for
innovative and creative ideas that may challenge traditional
practices and advance organizational goals. Stimulates creativity
in other stakeholders. Improvement activities and related decisions
are inclusive, reflecting the voice and efforts of individuals
throughout the organization who are impacted in change efforts. -
7. Communicates process goals, interventions, progress and outcomes
in a manner that demonstrates confidence, capability and
respectability. Communication is effective and meaningful to a
variety of stakeholders. - 8. Directs the tracking, trending and
reporting of resource utilization data. Provides recommendations to
leadership. Uses benchmarking, both internal and external data, to
evaluate organizational productivity and overall standards of
operations, as well as formulates strategies to improve
performance. Identifies and addresses training and development
needs within patient care services to best understand and use
reports and decision support systems. - 9. Supports quality
improvement and safety activities through team facilitation,
assistance in research, data collection and analysis. - 10. Assists
in the direction of support services. Assists in problem solving
and conflict resolution through interdisciplinary involvement.
Provides feedback directly to stakeholders and managers, as
appropriate. - 11. Participates in needs assessment of staff and
promotes professional development through staff participation in
appropriate educational and operational opportunities. Provides
feedback on member performance to appropriate managers. - 12.
Supports management objectives and demonstrates knowledge and
support of both hospital and system initiatives. - 13. Establishes
short and long-range goals and objectives that are consistent with
the hospital. - 14. Meets performance expectations for standards of
professional behavior. Expands own professional growth as evidenced
by participation in committees, educational programs, seminars and
conferences. - 15. Meets performance expectations for Customer
Service, Teamwork, Resource Utilization, and Staff and Self
Development as outlined in performance review. - 16. Serves as a
clinical resource to nursing staff through either direct
application or securing the assistance of others. - 17. Assists
staff members in crises, providing clinical, emotional and
managerial support when needed. - 18. Works with department staff
and nurse managers to adjust resource allocation using the staff
matrices. - 19. Supports tissue and organ procurement as needed. -
20. Communicates pertinent information to the Administrator on
call. - 21. Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure
smooth operation of the department/unit. Qualifications EDUCATION
Graduate of an accredited nursing program, BSN preferred. Will
consider candidates with completion of BSN within 3 years. Hospital
and unit based orientation, BLS required, ACLS and PALs preferred.
EXPERIENCE Minimum of 3 years of acute hospital experience.
Critical care experience preferred. Demonstration for potential for
management and leadership by previous experience and education.
LICENSURE Valid state of CT registered Nurse license SPECIAL SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal skills essential. Demonstrated problem
solving skills and critical thinking skills required. YNHHS
