Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Provide specialized nursing care in a stepdown unit caring primarily for adult and elderly patients with complex medical conditions such as congestive heart failure, pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis, pneumonia, stroke, and more. This role requires at least two years of nursing experience and the ability to perform critical skills including IV starts, tube management, wound care, and medication drip administration. Location: Prospect, KY This opportunity is based in a well-equipped healthcare setting offering a moderate-sized stepdown unit with 25-30 beds. The location provides a supportive environment with access to advanced technology such as Cernero EMR, Plum 360 IV pumps, Phillip monitors, and specialized patient care equipment. Staff enjoy free parking and a welcoming community atmosphere. Key Responsibilities: Deliver high-acuity nursing care to patients with varied and complex diagnoses. Perform IV insertions and manage various tubes and drains including chest tubes and JP drains. Provide wound care and administer drips while monitoring patients for withdrawal symptoms using CIWA and COWS protocols. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including hospitalists, NPs, PAs, intensivists, and vascular access teams. Float to other inpatient units within your scope as needed, with advance notice. Utilize technology efficiently, including electronic medical records and specialized monitoring devices. Participate in a weekend rotation every third weekend and work required holidays according to a set schedule. Qualifications / Desired Experience: Registered Nurse (RN) license Minimum 2 years clinical experience in stepdown or critical care nursing Current BLS and ACLS certifications Skilled in IV starts, tube and drain management, wound care, and administration of drips Comfortable working with a 1:5-6 patient ratio Ability to float within inpatient units Experience with Cernero EMR and related nursing technology preferred Scheduling & Shift Details: Shifts: 06:45 AM 07:15 PM and 06:45 PM 07:15 AM Self-scheduling and block scheduling options available with unit needs prioritized Weekend rotation every 3rd weekend Holiday rotations including major federal holidays; premium pay for select holidays Additional Perks: Free on-site parking Supportive multidisciplinary environment with PCA/CNA and additional nursing leadership staff This is a contract position offering an excellent opportunity for experienced nurses looking to engage in challenging clinical care while benefiting from flexible scheduling.
