Job Description:
Mitchell College is conducting a local search for a Nursing
Clinical Coordinator to direct the clinical practice portion of the
courses in Mitchell College’s 4-year, direct entry bachelor of
nursing science (BSN) program while adhering to the Family
Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) guidelines. The
incumbent’s work includes both clinical program administration and
instruction of students in the clinical, nursing science
laboratory, and simulation lab settings. Institutional-specific
duties are also required. Essential Duties: Under the direction of
Mitchell College’s Director of Nursing, the Nursing Clinical
Coordinator is accountable for these essential duties. Clinical
Administration Duties: The Nursing Clinical Coordinator is
responsible for conducting clinical outreach activities and
maintaining contractual affiliation agreements with clinical sites.
Specific administration duties include assurance of updated and
complete clinical documents, tracking compliance of student
requirements such as immunizations and background checks, and
developing clinical schedules and rosters. The Nursing Clinical
Coordinator also serves as a liaison and conducts effective
communications on clinical topics with and outside of Mitchell
College. Clinical Instruction Duties: The Nursing Clinical
Coordinator is accountable for facilitating high-quality student
clinical instruction. Specific instruction duties include serving
as a substitute clinical, laboratory, and simulation lab instructor
when faculty emergencies and unforeseen events occur.
Institutional-Specific Duties: The Nursing Clinical Coordinator
will attend and participate in convocation and commencement
ceremonies, serve on assigned committees and task forces, and
participate in professional, staff, and informational meetings.
Meetings and events are occasionally scheduled during evening and
weekend hours. Minimum Qualifications: Candidates are required to
have an active, unencumbered registered nurse (RN) license in the
state of Connecticut, a current certification in Basic Life Support
(BLS) cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and a minimum of a
Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited program of nursing.
Proof of education will be accomplished through verification of
candidates’ official transcripts. Candidates must also have at
least 2 years of experience in clinical nursing instruction and
evaluation methods, knowledge of clinical course design including
simulation, and familiarity with the accreditation process at
institutions of higher learning. Candidates must possess a deep
commitment to diversity. Incumbents must have proven ability to
effectively work with culturally, linguistically, and ethnically
diverse faculty, staff, and students. They are expected to have
excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
along with strong information technology literacy skills such as
Microsoft Office, Outlook, and TEAMS. Experience with learning
management systems (LMS) such as Moodle is also required.
Individuals moving to the hiring process must complete required
health indicators such as immunizations (e.g. MMR, chickenpox,
influenza, and others required by clinical agencies), titers, and
tuberculosis screening at the time of employment. Preferred
Qualifications: An earned doctorate in nursing such as a Ph.D.,
DNP, or Ed.D. from an accredited institution of higher learning
Professional portfolio with demonstrated excellence in scholarship,
teaching, and research Five or more years of full-time experience
in higher education Four or more years of experience as a full-time
nursing clinical coordinator Two or more years of full-time
experience teaching nursing simulation Four or more years of
full-time experience with Ability Based Education (ABE)
Peer-reviewed publication in the nursing or interdisciplinary
healthcare journals and texts Current Certified Nurse Educator
(CNE) certification Current Advanced Life Support (ALS)
certification Current International Nursing Association for
Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) certification Current
Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) certification
