POSITION SUMMARY
The Catering Manager provides leadership and business management
skills necessary to grow the financial success and service quality
for Stratton Mountain Resort's banquet and catering operations. The
manager ensures quality production, exceptional service, and
financial profitability. The manager also takes an active role in
identifying, recommending, and executing new business opportunities
within the Resort. This position oversees the delivery and
production of conference, wedding, and group catering services.
This will include ensuring the right staffing levels and delivery
of large and small group functions as well as private events. This
is a full-time, year-round position with a salary range of $60,000
- $65,000 per year.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Attending weekly BEO Meetings
- Responsible for all FOH Operations for Catering and Events to
include:
- Setup and breakdown of banquet and event spaces
- Staffing banquet and events appropriately
- Responsible for all bar services and products
- Ordering of FOH products
- POS Stations
- Post event financial reporting to include POS cashouts, tip
allocations and deposits
- Works in conjunction with the Catering Chef to ensure timing
and transportation of food
- Builds, recruits, and trains a consistent high functioning FOH
service team
- Weekly timecard audits, approvals, and gratuity allocations in
Stratton payroll system
- Organization of Catering FOH storage areas
- Management of FOH equipment and d--cor
- Works with the catering chef on the monthly inventory of all
catering products
- Works in conjunction with Event coordinators and Group Sales to
achieve guest expectations
- Setup and breakdown of banquet and event AV needs
- Management of Resort AV equipment
- During times when the Catering department does not have events,
support other F&B restaurants
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent, Associates Degree
preferred
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
- 3-5 years' experience in Banquets and Catering in a resort
setting
- Supervisory experience is required
- Strong leadership skills
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships
with staff, co-workers, and all Resort departments
- Flexible schedule
- Proficiency and experience in computer applications and POS
Systems
- Experience with audio visual setup and operations
- Experience with Delphi preferred
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Occasional travel for job fairs, conferences, trainings and
benchmarking trips
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
This position may be required to work evenings, weekends and
holidays
Office Environment:
- Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position a minimum
of 20 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Manual dexterity to operate a computer and other common office
equipment on a constant basis.
- Auditory and visual acuity to operate computers, phones, mobile
devices and basic office equipment on a constant basis.
- Ability to work for extended periods of time sitting, bending,
reaching, and speaking on a constant basis.
- Ability to work for extended periods of time standing, walking,
kneeling, pushing and pulling on an occasional basis.
- Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of
communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
Food Service Environment:
- Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate
and controlled and the noise level in the work environment is
usually moderate.
- Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8
hours in length at a time over an average shift of 8 hours.
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate is
regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or
feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and
talk or hear.
- Frequently required to climb or balance and taste or
smell.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds on a regular and
continuing basis.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close
vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth
perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving
mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic
chemicals.
- Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of
communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
- Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual
functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment including but not
limited to: non slip footwear and gloves.
