The University of Maine School of Computing and InformationScience--(SCIS) seeks applicants for a teaching facultyposition at the rank of--lecturer, with an anticipated startdate of September 1, 2019.(The--School is also seekingapplicants for an assistant professor of computer--scienceposition; see our web site, http://umaine.edu/scis fordetails.)Essential duties and responsibilities. Thesuccessful candidate will--be expected to be an effective andengaging teacher, to make a strong--commitment to thedevelopment of innovative computing curricula, to--advise andmentor undergraduates in pursuit of their academicand--research goals, and to collaborate with colleagues toincrease student--success.The typical teaching load is threecourses per semester at the--undergraduate level; occasionalgraduate courses may be an option for--candidates with a PhD.Some service to the School, College, and--University isexpected.Qualifications. Documented successfulcollege-level teaching is--required.We are particularlyinterested in candidates who can teach a--wide range ofcomputing courses from the introductory toadvanced--undergraduate levels.Preference will be given tothose applicants with--documented participation in activitiespromoting inclusive excellence.--The ability to contribute tocampus-wide Signature and Emerging areas of--excellence in DataScience and STEM Education Research (with a focus on--CS) ispreferred.An MS or PhD in computer science or a closelyrelated--discipline is required by date of hire.Commitment to teaching faculty.
