performance, ensuring seamless coordination between fulfillment
center (FC) teams and last-mile carriers while driving
accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement. Key
responsibilities include managing daily carrier arrivals and
departures, optimizing sortation schemes and dock plans,
forecasting parcel volumes, and aligning carrier capacity to
demand. The role oversees shipping office operations, including
OTP/OTD performance reporting, compliance, and carrier scorecard
management. This leader ensures loading accuracy and dock
efficiency, while partnering closely with FC Operations to execute
reliable, on-time parcel movements. In addition, the Transportation
Operations Manager supervises a small team of full-time and
temporary employees, drives KPI adherence, develops and refines
SOPs, leads training initiatives, and leverages data and industry
systems to proactively identify delays, resolve operational
bottlenecks, and enhance overall transportation performance. The
ideal candidate brings 4 years of experience in parcel
transportation engineering and warehouse-based parcel operations,
including direct carrier management and dock oversight. They
possess strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities,
experience with LTL and FTL transportation, and the ability to
influence cross-functional stakeholders in a fast-paced, ambiguous
environment. A strong ownership mindset, exceptional organizational
skills, and clear, effective communication are critical to success
in this role. What You'll Do: Engineer the operational success of
zone skipping for our parcel network, coordinating the daily
operations for carrier arrivals, sortation schemes, critical
departures, and relations with last mile carriers. Own the Parcel
operations in up to 4 full sites (weighted) at a given time with
travel up to once per month. Manage a full suite of Parcel
carriers. Have an understanding of sortation/injection schedules,
carrier platforms, and delivery expectations. Hold these carriers
accountable through reporting and carrier scorecards. Maintain
shipping office responsibilities, including check-in process,
reporting on OTP/OTD, and holding warehouse accountable for proper
loading/unloading practices. Provide guidance on the layout and
dock plan, provide input for the configuration of the sorter,
identifying sorter spurs, staging areas, and doors for the day’s
carriers. In consultation with FC Operations, project daily parcel
package volumes and coordinate carrier capacity to handle them.
Oversee the accuracy and timeliness of loading gaylords and
packages aboard carrier trailers, including development of
processes to improve accuracy and efficiency. Manage up to 8 temp
and FTE employees at a given, providing them with guidance and
holding them to daily KPI's. Utilize reporting and tools to
identify and address delays, errors, or areas of concern with the
sortation and tracking for parcels from the FC. Review results of
Parcel carrier selection, and sortation to carriers, addressing
anomalies or shipping errors as observed. Utilize online tools to
communicate shipping forecasts to Parcel carriers, and meet with
local carrier contacts for the timely and accurate pickup and
sortation of all Parcel freight. Conduct training, develop
operating procedures, and communicate successes and opportunities
with the process for carrier selection, labeling, compliance, and
accuracy of the transportation operations. ?Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field. 4
years of experience in logistics solutions design, specifically
engineering parcel transportation within fulfillment and/or
sortation networks. 4 years of parcel transportation experience in
a warehouse environment, including carrier compliance and
operational requirements. Direct management experience leading
teams of 8–10 employees (FTE and/or temporary). 2 years of dock
management and shipping office operations experience. Experience
working with additional transportation modes, including LTL and
FTL. Experience using data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, BI tools,
TMS, WMS) to evaluate transportation performance and support
operational decision-making. Demonstrated experience influencing
cross-functional stakeholders to implement transportation
strategies or process improvements. Experience managing multiple
competing priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
Familiarity with industry transportation and warehouse technology
systems for reporting and problem-solving. Experience developing
SOPs, training materials, or operational documentation.
