education and Quality Improvement activities within the department.

ongoing educational needs to ensure staff competency. Maintains
educational documentation on all training and in-services; promotes

program. Minimum 5 years relevant clinical experience. Prior
experience teaching preferred. BSN or bachelors degree with strong

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

(ICU/Telemetry) and the Medical Director of Critical Care, the

specialty practice of Critical Care Nursing. The Clinical Educator
is responsible for providing overall organization and coordination
of education and Quality Improvement activities within the
department. Designs and conducts educational programs for Intensive
Care and Telemetry. Develops and coordinates unit based orientation
programs. Position requires close contact with the Critical Care /
Telemetry staff to meet ongoing educational needs to ensure staff
competency. Maintains educational documentation on all training and
in-services; promotes quality of care and patient safety programs.
Collaborates with Director to maintain staff competencies and meet
current AACN and other applicable practice standards.
- Promotes and maintains the philosophy, values, standards of
performance and goals of the organization and department.
- Supports standards of practice and evidence based care for all
patients served by Critical Care.
- Collaborates with physicians, providers, and members of the
health care team to identify and meet patient and family care
- Provides direction and support for staff in clinical decision
making, priority setting and management of patient care.
- Develops staff education plans and coordinates appropriate
education to meet plan, including but not limited to skills
stations and simulations.
- Establishes departmental educational programs including annual

and practice issues; create an effective educational plan to meet
the AACN Standard of Care. Must possess critical thinking skills
with the ability to prioritize needs rapidly. Must possess and
demonstrate excellent verbal/written communication, negotiations
and problem-solving skills. Recent experience in developing,
teaching, and coordinating educational programs for adult learners
preferred. Work history with quality measures, safety outcomes,
program development, and process improvement highly preferred.
Ability to work flexible hours based upon staff requirements
related to education and competence.
REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:
