For more than 118 years, Backus Hospital has been the primary source of healthcare services for much of Eastern Connecticut. We are home to the only trauma center in New London and Windham counties, and are the only area hospital with LIFE STAR helicopter services. We deliver and coordinate a continuum of high-quality healthcare with the goal of improving the health of our communities.


A member of the Preventive Medicine Department (PMD,) a registered nurse responsible for provision of an organized program directed toward community education and health improvement. Utilizes nursing skills to analyze, develop, and implement community education programs based on departmental priorities. Assists with staff education related to caring for people from different cultures and diversity issues. Works in conjunction with other members of the PMD.


Education: Bachelors Degree in Nursing required

Experience: 3 years previous nursing experience

Licensure, Certification, Registration: Current State of CT RN license, BLS certification and valid drivers license with clean record required.

Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:

Computer proficiency and keyboarding skills with ability to input and analyze program specific data.

Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to coordinate care and organize local support services.
