Job Description:

Responsible for the development and implementation of the Outpatient Division#s infection prevention and control program including auditing, data collection and reporting of infections; monitoring regulatory/accreditation compliance; coordinates with agencies to provide necessary education and training; and policy/procedure development and implementation. # RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform Division-wide infection prevention and control surveillance and implement the approved infection prevention and control program. Participate in the development of the annual infection control and prevention Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement indicators. Administer and collect infectious disease data and reports to appropriate management and committees and to regulatory agencies when necessary. Participate in the systematic evaluation of activities and outcomes. Performs audits to monitor compliance and collaborates with agency management to determine avenues for feedback and performance improvement Participate in the development and implementation of program changes whenever significant risks occur. Investigate significant infectious disease events and participate in the plan and implementation to prevent future occurrences. Collaborate on educational materials and conducts education in infection prevention and control practices during orientation of new staff and as needed with existing staff. Develop, review and revise infectious disease policies and procedures in coordination with quality department. Participate in infection prevention/control performance improvement initiatives and collaborative meetings to improve best practice compliance. Monitor regulatory and accreditation expectations and develops action plans for implementation related to infection or communicable disease as needed. Performs fit-testing in conjunction with the agency#s respiratory program. Participate in and promotes the employee vaccination program. Perform all other duties as assigned. ################################### REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor#s degree in Nursing or related health care field with Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) a plus. Regional travel is expected, candidate would need to be located within driving distance of the Northeast.(Connecticut and Rhode Island) Ability to work independently in a time-oriented environment. Possesses effective communication skills. Working knowledge of regulatory requirements related to infection prevention and control practices. Knowledge of clinical epidemiology. Ability to use computer software for managing work files, data collection and data entry. Physical requirements: Standing, walking, sitting, bending and reaching.# Primarily computer based, but may require observation of home based visits as well. Must have basic computer skills and ability to access internet and other programs applicable to the Division. Perform automated functions that fall within job responsibility. #LI-JT1
