Pratt & Whitney's North Berwick Engineering Center (NBEC) is
seeking a talented Structural Analysis Engineer to work on the
existing and next generation of commercial and military gas turbine
engine compressor hardware.
Provide analytical support for the preliminary design phase
through detailed design, development testing, certification by
regulatory authorities or government customers, transition to
production manufacturing and repair limit definition.
Perform state-of-the-art ANSYS finite element analysis for
stress, vibration, mission low cycle fatigue life, residual life
(fracture mechanics) prediction, and optimization; stress testing
and data reduction; production and in-service field
Participate as an active member in cross-discipline integrated
product teams to provide design solutions that balance performance,
cost, and weight requirements.
Seek and incorporate ways to advance technology and improve
processes on an individual and team basis.
Ability to write clear documentation, as well as to create and
provide impactful, persuasive presentations to management and
- Significant interaction with internal and external customers is
University Degree in Mechanical, Structural or Aerospace
Engineering required or equivalent experience and minimum 3 years
of prior structural analysis experience. Experience analyzing gas
turbine engine hardware a plus (stress and vibration analysis, low
cycle fatigue, fracture mechanics).
Strong mechanical aptitude to understand the interactions of
complex assemblies and how to translate those interactions into
sound analytical assumptions.
Ability to create and run advanced (non-linear, contact) ANSYS
Familiarization with Unigraphics and MS office preferred.
US Person Status required due to government contract.
