Overview of Position:
The Electric Boat Security Department has an immediate need for an experienced and knowledgeable individual to provide oversight, planning, and supervision of all personnel assigned to Electric Boats Command Centers. This position will provide leadership for the communication center, technical guidance and recommendations to staff of 3 command centers. Strong communication skills and experience in communications / dispatch center operations are a must. This highly motivated individual will serve as the Supervisor of Security Command Center Operation for Electric Boat.

The candidate will be a professional, dedicated, and enthusiastic leader who can guide staff and develop positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. This candidate will bring a broad knowledge of emergency management principles and practices; police and fire operational methods and procedures; radio, telephony, and computer systems operations capabilities as they relate to the Command Center. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of CAD/RMS systems, coordinate projects, and carryout the communications center roadmap.

Additionally, the successful candidate must be a self-starter who possesses the ability to personally develop the program from the ground up as well as orchestrate priorities and coordinate efforts of the Command Center. The supervisor will be responsible for direct supervision of all personnel assigned to Electric Boats Command Centers. The selected applicant will be required to perform various supervisory duties that include (but are not limited to):
  • Manage the day to day activities of the Command Center personnel to include operation of computerized systems and related equipment
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Electric Boat Security & Fire Department, Law Enforcement and Government personnel as related to Command Center Operations
  • Advise senior leadership on Command Center Operations events
  • Requires ability to effectively organize and assign work to employees such that safety, quality and performance goals are met
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, improve work schedules, streamline work processes and work cooperatively with other departments as required
  • Must have knowledge of Electric Boat work practices; ability to comprehend, follow and issue verbal and /or written instructions; willing to work as necessary to support the business needs
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with subordinates and leadership
  • Must have the ability to set, assign, and measure daily production goals, provide technical expertise, instruct, mentor, motivate personnel and hold members accountable as required
  • Ensure procedures, reporting and analysis of emergency events and other security incidents are reported to investigative authorities as appropriate
  • Facilitate certification and recertification of training, assist with on the job training and promote personnel growth and development. Maintain personnel training records, tracks completion and updates as needed
  • Prepare shift schedules and prepare performance evaluations for communication specialists
  • Develop/implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Emergency Action Plans and other correspondence as it relates to Command Center Operations
  • Review all logs, records and reports prepared by subordinates for accuracy and completeness

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in security
  • 3+ years of experience within a leadership role
  • Must possess a DoD Secret Security clearance
  • Strong knowledge of public safety practices, local ordinance, state/federal laws and 911 communication policies
  • Must have an advanced knowledge of the use of standard office equipment, computers and relevant software programs
  • Must possess or be able to obtain certification in the following systems, C-Cure 9000, Milestone X-Protect, Everbridge and Barco Smart wall
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced working knowledge of Avtec Radio Dispatching Consoles
  • Involves frequent internal and external contacts which requires skill in customer service, communication and de-escalating situations. Oral and written communication skills are required.
  • The ability to supervise and monitor the work of others, to provide effective recommendations or make decisions about whether disciplinary action (including unpaid time off when appropriate) may or not be necessary to remedy a situation

  • Highly organized self-starter who can own projects and act with limited supervision
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze operations, identify deficiencies, and provide recommendations for improvements
  • Strong project management skills required, with strong ability to multi-task
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts at varying levels of detail to suit the audience are required
  • Computer and presentation skills required to successfully implement the IT and OPSEC programs
  • Requires the ability to effectively manage and supervise the work of others; the individual in this position must have the ability to provide leadership and motivate employees.
