Boehringer Ingelheim (BI) is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated scientist to join the state-of-the-art Research Cytometry Core Facility as a Scientist II/IIICytometry Core Operator in the Cancer Immunology & Immune Modulation Department located at our US headquarters in Ridgefield, CT.

This position will be responsible for operation and maintenance of cytometers, conducting cell sorts, and assisting facility users from all Research Departments with instrument use, experimental design and data analysis.  The successful candidate will also have an exciting opportunity to learn cutting edge CyTOF® technology and apply the technology to help drive drug discovery.

Duties & Responsibilities\:

  • Operate and maintain flow cytometry instrumentation, including multi-laser cell sorters.
  • Perform instrument quality control procedures and oversee instrument performance on a daily basis.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all cytometry instrumentation in the laboratory.
  • Troubleshoot instrument malfunctions and coordinate service repairs with field service engineers, as needed.
  • Perform cell sorting to support Research projects.
  • Provide assistance with instrument setup and use, experiment design, and data analysis to facility users.
  • Develop and maintain policies for the Cytometry Core Facility.
  • Develop cytometry applications to support Research projects, as needed.
  • Comply with all applicable regulations, performing all work in a safe and compliant manner. Maintain proper records in accordance with SOPs and policies.

Scientist II Requirements\:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution with three-plus (3+) years of experience in related scientific discipline or Master’s Degree from an accredited institution in related scientific discipline or equivalent experience in related field

Scientist III Requirements\:

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited institution with three-plus (3+) years of experience in related scientific discipline, OR Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution with seven-plus (7+) years of experience in related scientific discipline or equivalent experience in related field

Requirements for both levels\:

  • Demonstrated experience with multiple cytometry instrument platforms, with strong background in BD instrumentation.
  • Prior experience operating various cell sorters.
  • Experience developing and executing polychromatic flow cytometry panels.
  • Expertise in flow cytometry data analysis; advanced user of FACS Diva software, and FlowJo; working knowledge of Cytobank.
  • Experience with CyTOF® mass cytometry highly preferred.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative and fast paced research environment.


Eligibility Requirements\:

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.

Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)

Must be 18 years of age or older
