* Connecticut Children's is the only institution in the state that offers a unique, child-centered environment with the expertise of fellowship-trained pediatric ophthalmologists and the compliment of multidisciplinary programs and diagnostic capabilities. The ophthalmology division provides a tremendous opportunity to build a nationally recognized clinical program with specific opportunities in retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), cataract surgery and strabismus. * Currently, the Division of Pediatric Ophthalmology has 6 faculty, including 3 physicians, 2 optometrists and 2 advanced practice clinicians dedicated to serving children throughout Connecticut, Western Massachusetts, and Eastern New York - approximately 1,000,000 child lives and responsible for the oversight of 12 NICUs in Connecticut and Massachusetts. * SUMMARY * Our Pediatric Ophthalmology division is a growing, busy practice, and we are investing in innovative equipment, bringing in new clinicians and leaders, and planning for new office space. This is an opportunity to join a growing, developing, innovative practice. * The Ophthalmology Physician Assistant, a newly-created position, will care for our pediatric ophthalmology patient in clinic and hospital settings, including the following responsibilities: * Assist in the operating room * Participate in the consult service as needed * Assist with Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) consults at Connecticut Children's Medical Center and other area hospitals * Assist with the coordination of the ROP program with area hospitals * Triage referrals and urgent appointment requests and provide guidance to technicians for scheduling * See patients in clinic * May prescribe glasses * Connecticut Children's is on a journey to enhance diversity, equity and inclusion in our workplace.
