Job Description:

Looking for an experienced tech for client-facing helpdesk and end-user support. Candidate must have a very strong troubleshooting ability and a self-reliant nature, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Travel throughout Connecticut will be necessary on a regular basis. Must be comfortable in a sometimes very busy environment, supporting a variety of clients, technologies, and wide range of items from computer installs to advanced troubleshooting of common desktop issues such as printing, email, network connectivity, and application issues. Ideal candidate will Sr. Level tech skills who enjoys working on Jr. through Sr. level tech issues, always looking to improve their skills set, and finds joy in working with colleagues and end users to keep technology running smoothly.

Critical skills:

  • Microsoft Windows 7/10
    --- Microsoft Office 2013/2016/2019/365
    --- Networking concepts such as IP addresses, subnets, routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs
    --- Security concepts such as antivirus, EDR/XDR, Malware/Ransomare, 2FA, encryption
    --- Understanding of email services, POP/SMTP, IMAP, MX Records, Spam Filtering
    --- Network troubleshooting commands such as ping, nslookup, tracert, netstat, and ipconfig Helpful/Not Critical, but eager to learn the following skills and technologies:

    --- Windows Server 2008 R2, 2012, 2012 R2, and 2016
    --- Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, WSUS and GPO
    --- Microsoft Cloud services such as Intune, Exchange, SharePoint, and OneDrive
    --- Backup Technologies such as Datto and Veeam
    --- Ticketing and Remote Management software such as Connectwise Manage and Automate
    --- Virtualization and cloud solutions such as Windows Hyper-V, Azure, and AWS
    --- Familiar with PowerShell
    --- Phone system/VOIP phone systems
    • Prioritize tasks to manage time effectively Day to day tasks may include:
      • Providing remote or onsite support for clients
      • Answering phones and supporting end-users on a variety of issues
      • Monitoring and responding to emails sent to the helpdesk
      • Building, setting up, and deploying new and refurbished computers
      • Hard drive upgrades and repair/replacements on PCs and Laptops
      • Working with vendors to resolve issues with applications
      • Performing system backups and data recovery
      • Patch and security management for workstations and servers
      • Installing and configuring new printers for network
      • Log detailed ticketing information regarding the work you for each client
      • Password resets and assisting with 2FA configuration for end users
      • Travel to client sites for installations and hands-on troubleshooting
      • Develop trust with end users and provide calm guidance when issues come up Additional tasks may include:
        • Assist with the outline of project goals and deadlines
        • Assist in developing standard information technology procedures
        • Communicate with clients and internal management regarding project statuses
        • Setup and configure Office 365 tenant
        • Plan, stage, configure and migrate client data to Office 365
        • Training for Office 365 products such as Exchange online, SharePoint, OneDrive
        • Create, Manage, and Maintain user accounts in Active Directory
        • Configure NTFS permissions for network shares on Windows Server
        • Configure, Install, and Update Sonicwall and Meraki Firewalls
        • Configure and installing wireless networks, help design ideal layouts
        • Physical cabling, data drops punch downs, wiring closet cleanups
