Principal Business Analyst

The Principal Business Analyst seeks ways to automate/streamline data and reporting efforts for the entire company, identifies data anomalies through exception reporting, and provides recommendations to business leaders through custom-built reports and analysis. As a subject matter expert, the Principal Business Analyst works to ensure all business reporting data universes are designed efficiently, yield accurate results and conform to business needs. The Principal Business Analyst also ensures data integrity across multiple company data universes and all reporting published by the team.
Responsibilities:
Development of new or revision of existing end-user reporting models, ad-hoc data requests, and automated applications using SAP Business Objects, Xactly, Microsoft Office Suite (Access & Excel), custom Visual Basic code, and custom SQL code. This is in support of functional areas such as Sales, Product Management, Purchasing, Marketing, and Finance
Manages longer-term projects from requirements gathering, viability assessing, solution designing, and solution delivery
Development, enhancement, and oversight of business reporting data universes to ensure integrity across all aspects of transactional, product, manufacturer, employee, customer, and compensation data. This includes but is not limited to JDE, Traxx, Data Warehouse, REPORT, GenX (web) SSCT, CDB, Axapta (former Softmart system), and numerous others
Conducts business requirements analysis with business owners to determine reporting needs.
Converts analysis into data universes, end-user reporting models, and/or ad-hoc reports
Contributes subject matter expert knowledge by consulting on technical issues pertaining to software suite or data connection/retrieval for employees across the organization including the Analytics team in Marketing, for example relating transactional data to customer data
Provides technical guidance and skillset enhancement to others on the immediate team, Finance Team, and other data consumers in the company in an effort to help them be more self-reliant for information

Required competencies:
Advanced Microsoft Office skills including the creation of PowerPoint presentations, the creation of Word documents with advanced formatting, the development of Access databases, forms, and macros, and the creation of Excel spreadsheets with macros and/or custom Visual Basic code. The ability to interpret and work with custom SQL code is also an acceptable substitute for Excel Macro/VBA abilities
Advanced SAP Business Objects skills (or equivalent) including the ability to manage multiple data providers (sources) for maximum flexibility in the handling of disjointed data
Intermediate skills or experience using Xactly, a third-party Incentive Compensation software suite (or equivalent software)
Intermediate to advanced technical knowledge about PC computers, Windows software, and its related applications and ODBC data sources as they pertain to relational databases used to extract data from source systems.
