(off on Fri., Sat.) – approx. 2-10PM M-Th, Sun. approx. 9-5PM Ok, so you hear driving instructor, and you imagine a crusty old dude in khaki shorts, dad-style New Balances tied too tight and a tee shirt with the name of a place on it in some strange font. That is not our driving instructors. Our driving instructors are real people. We acknowledge that being a teenager these days is hard and often it sucks. We do not just help them learn how to drive, we help them understand that a license means freedom and responsibility and their first step into adulthood, and we help them understand what that entails. You are not just sitting in a car screaming at kids that do not listen. You are helping someone that does not know how to do a thing - a thing they need to know how to do in order to succeed in life and teaching them how to do that thing. We provide all the necessary paid training to prepare you to teach new drivers the fundamentals of safe driving. If you are a safe and solid driver, we will train you to be a great instructor. About the Company: The Next Street is a driving school unlike any Driver's Education school you have seen before. We put a huge effort into surrounding ourselves with friendly, happy, energetic, and all-around good people. We hire great people and teach them the skills they need to be an outstanding instructor. We believe in helping you become the best version of yourself. We believe in you and want to help you achieve your career goals (and support you in your personal goals). We believe in creating a team environment with like-minded peers that support each other and make you feel a part of something bigger than yourself. Our staff is a diverse community of people, all connected by our belief in 3 core values: Kindness, Positivity and Curiosity. No member of our staff is a cog in the wheel. We are all (from the CEO to our Licensing Guides to Managers to the Instructors and everywhere in between) a part of something bigger than ourselves and we work together to serve that greater good. Responsibilities:

  • Teach new drivers, both teens and young adults, the foundations of being a safe and competent driver. Our driving instructors ride shot gun in our dual controlled car with a teen that sits in the driver's seat.
  • Clearly communicate with the new driver and their parents about where they excel and where there is more work needed.
  • Travel to locations and landmarks all over the state of Connecticut in order to provide a diverse driver education program
    • Meticulously fill out paperwork to adhere to CT DMV reporting requirements for new driver education.
    • Help students to develop not only their driving skills, but their self-confidence and understanding of freedom and responsibility. Our instructors have a real impact on the lives of their students well beyond a driver's license!
    • Collaborate with peers and supervisors to deliver the most outstanding educational program you possibly can Minimum Requirements:
      • You must be an experienced driver yourself, with the ability to exhibit patience and follow the rules of the road
      • Must be fluent in American Sign Language
      • High school diploma or equivalent
      • Must be at least 21 years old
      • Have held a valid State of Connecticut Driver's License for at least 4 years.
      • This role requires being fully vaccinated for COVID-19 unless a medical or religious accommodation is needed.
        • Clean driving record
        • Must submit to a Federal and State of Connecticut Department of Children and Families background check and pre-employment drug screen (marijuana is not permissible with this job)

          • 401k Employer-matching
          • Paid Sick Leave
          • Paid Holidays and more!
