happy here for a long time.Key Responsibilities:
- Provides compassionate care to patients and clients
- Keeps accurate medical records in accordance with hospital
policy, including in-depth knowledge of medical terminology and
record keeping.
- Prepares and maintains the exam rooms and treatment areas
- Performs physical assessments and records observations,
including triaging and problem solving to achieve the best possible
outcomes.
- Safe, low stress and compassionate handling and restraint.
- Prepares estimates for procedures and discusses financial
commitments with clients
- Venipuncture and IV catheter placement
- Pharmacy skills, including protocols for filling in-house
- Radiography and digital imaging
- Monitors vitals by hand and with equipment
- Sample collection and processing for in-house and reference
labs
- Builds initial rapport and long term relationships with both
pets and clients, successfully communicates plans and estimates to
owners.
- Maintains an appropriate inventory of all medical supplies as
determined by the inventory control system
- Assists the Veterinarian in medical, surgical and dental
procedures; prepares patients for surgery; administers anesthesia;
monitors patients during surgery and recovery; administers
fluids
- Communicates within the team, proactively advocating for their
patients needs
- Operates practice management software (AVImark) and related
software packagesRequirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT) or License (LVT) is
highly desirable; equivalent training and experience may
substitute.
- Genuinely enjoys working with animals and can deal with them
even when they are stressed, ill or in pain. Dedication to safety
for all parties involved.
- Must have a positive attitude and be a team player.
- Strong work ethic and track record of being reliable.
- Willingness to learn new skills and techniques. About
