We are seeking a Senior Energy Engineer with proven capabilities to identify, investigate, develop, and oversee project implementation and to provide quality control review of Performance Contracting, Renewable Energy, and other projects that improve energy conservation and efficiency initiatives for clients, with a secondary focus on renewable energy and sustainability initiatives. This position will occasionally involve travel for client review meeting, project kick-off meeting, field energy audits, field witnessing of commissioning and M&V, and field verification of progress during a project's construction.
Responsibilities


  • Act as a team-lead and mentor junior staff
  • Interact with senior-level facilities personnel as required
  • As the lead technical person on projects, the Senior Energy Engineer position will actively participate and manage junior staff to accomplish the following activities:
  • Review ESCO proposals and Investment Grade Audits; including their Measurement & Verification, Commissioning, O&M, and Training plans, energy savings calculations, energy models, ECM cost build-up, markups, and energy escalations
  • Investigate pre-project conditions, conduct preliminary audits (including existing equipment and operating parameters)
  • Attend and/or witness Commissioning and acceptance testing; report on results.
  • Prepare assessments of feasibility study reports and investment grade audits completed by ESCOs to ensure technical viability of proposed energy conservation measures and energy saving capital projects to generate the anticipated energy and process improvements; assessments include review of baseline conditions/calculations, ECM savings calculations, and ECM scopes, M&V approach/plans, capital cost estimates, operating parameters, engineering drawings and project submittals
  • Prepare information requests for clients/consultants to address and resolve deficiencies
  • Prepare the necessary reports to manage and monitor project progress
  • Collaboratively work with the multi-disciplinary engineering team to ensure reviews and recommendations are completed to professional standards
  • Review and comment on Commissioning Reports, M&V Reports, and other Close-Out documentation
  • Provide assistance/insight/guidance to Owners and ESCO Teams regarding planned approach to execution of an ESPC Project
  • Conduct walk-through audits of large commercial/industrial/institutional facilities to identify energy conservation opportunities, recommend steps to investigate and implement the opportunities, and provide written reports of findings
  • Keep abreast of technology trends and changes in this rapidly evolving market

    Qualifications
    Education

    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Energy Engineering discipline

      Required Skills and Experience

      • 5 or more years of energy engineering experience that includes knowledge of HVAC systems, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and sustainable practices for building properties, new building construction, and industrial manufacturing operations
      • Experience in energy engineering and project management with strong technical knowledge of energy efficiency practices and programs
      • Excellent communication, verbal and written skills
      • Must be willing to travel as required
      • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Auto Cad read/review, and Energy Modeling are required

        Licenses and Certifications

        • Professional Engineer, Certified Energy Manager, and Certified M&V Professional are preferred

          The pay range for this position is $105,000.00- $115,000.00 per year; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per California Senate Bill 1162/ salary transparency provisions of the NYCHRL/ Colorado Equal Pay Act. Base pay information is based on market location.
