Grade: 1 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt - Seasonal Pay Range:
$12.57-$15.71-$18.85 Reports to: School Age Childcare and Camp
Director Revision Date: 3.10.2026 Position Summary: Supports the
work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening
community through youth development, healthy living, and social
responsibility. Builds members and the community’s understanding of
the YMCA’s impact. This position provides leadership and direct
supervision of a group of youth in a seasonal outdoor day camp
setting. Provides positive engagement with youth in a safe,
nurturing environment. Provides quality experience to children and
parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect,

with you. Essential Functions: Builds personal and meaningful
relationships with YMCA members, participants, volunteers, and
guests. While exemplifying Y’s commitment to the four-character
values of caring, honesty, respect & responsibility, and responding
to all members and community inquiries promptly. Strong desire to
work with youth grades k-8. Assists in leading energizing, fun,
culturally aware, safe, camp activities and field trips, as
directed by the supervisor, to carry out the YMCA mission and
goals. Provide direct supervision and instruction to camp
participants following the camp guidelines. Active and informative
communication with parents, coworkers, and Director in a timely
manner. Upholds all YMCA policies, procedures, standards, and code
of conduct including all YMCA emergency and safety procedures.
Completes incident and accident reports as necessary and submit
them to the Camp Director promptly. While reporting problems,
complaints, or concerns of participants to the Camp Director in a
timely fashion. Actively Participates in staff meetings, training,
events, reviews, and other scheduled events. Maintains attendance
records of campers in an orderly and efficient manner. You must be
punctual and dependable, self-motivated, and can work independently
or as a team member. Ability to relate effectively to diverse
groups of people from all social and economic segments of the
community. Actively participates in all camp activities including
swim, field games, dress up days, and Celebrations Has a
professional and respectful working relationship with all
coworkers. Ability to perform duties with professionalism,
enthusiasm, kindness, empathy, care, honesty, and respect. Ability
to be flexible, self-motivated, and work as a team. Fulfills any
other functions appointed by the YMCA administration. Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS: At least 16 years of age. Must pass a background
check and finger printing. Experience preferred in one or more of
the following areas: outdoor living/education, music (instrumental
or songs, dramatic arts, aquatics, sports/PE/recreational games,
creative arts, etc.). Effective verbal communication skills
CPR/First Aid/AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention
training completed prior to camp start date. Completed health form
prior to start date. Earlier experience working with youth,
preferably in a day camp setting, for 2 or more years is preferred.
Behavioral management experience within a school, childcare, camp
or parenthood. School credits or Certificates in Career and
Technical Education program specifically Early Childhood Education
is preferred. Compensation details: 14.7-17.64 Hourly Wage
