Join Pioneer Valley Equine Associates, a leader in equine health, as a Veterinary Technician. In this role, you will support our mission to provide high-quality, compassionate veterinary care with a holistic approach to horses across Western Massachusetts. You will work closely under the guidance of our veterinarians in medical procedures, provide necessary medical care, and ensure the well-being of our equine patients. This position calls for a professional who is passionate about equine health, with a solid foundation in veterinary technician skills and a desire to contribute to a team that values thorough, preventative care. Assist veterinarians in diagnosing and treating horses with both routine and emergency health issues. Monitor the health conditions of horses and report findings to the veterinarian. Perform laboratory tests and operate diagnostic equipment. Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian. Maintain medical records and compile case histories. Prepare animals and instruments for surgery. Educate clients on maintaining the health and well-being of their horses. Proficiency in handling, restraining, and treating horses. Ability to perform diagnostic tests and operate medical equipment. Strong verbal communication skills for client education and team collaboration. Capable of managing time effectively and prioritizing tasks under pressure. Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Certification as a Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, or RVT) preferred. Knowledge of equine behavior and physiology is highly advantageous.
