Join a specialized stepdown unit providing expert care to patients with neurological, stroke, respiratory, and general medical conditions. This contract nursing opportunity is ideal for RNs with a minimum of one year experience, including first-time travelers seeking a dynamic practice setting. Location:The position is based in Prospect, KY, known for its serene neighborhoods, vibrant community life, and easy access to metropolitan amenities. Responsibilities: Deliver comprehensive patient care on a 30-bed Stepdown Unit, maintaining patient ratios typically 1:5, sometimes 1:6 Perform stroke assessments, cardiac rhythm interpretations, IV starts, and manage oxygen therapy including non-continuous BiPAP Administer and monitor infusions including Amiodarone, Cardizem, iron, heparin, and other drips (no pressors) Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including CNAs, HUCs, charge nurses, unit managers, and specialists such as vascular access teams and respiratory therapists Utilize Cerner EMR and operate Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Phillip monitors, and unit-specific equipment including wound vacs and crash carts Support remote patient monitoring and assist with patient transport during MRI procedures requiring continuous telemetry Qualifications/Desired Experience: Current RN license with at least 1 year of clinical experience, ideally in stepdown or critical care settings Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Proficient in stroke assessment and cardiac monitoring Skilled in IV insertion, drip management, and oxygen therapy Scheduling & Requirements: Shift options: 0645-1915 or 1845-0715 (no clock in before 0638 or 1838) Holiday work required including major holidays with premium pay on additional special days; weekend rotation every third week Self-scheduling and block scheduling with unit needs prioritized Free parking; dress code includes Galaxy Blue scrub tops with black pants allowed Additional Information: Floating is required to other mixed acuity units within the facility Orientation includes a NEO and one on-floor shift to ensure smooth integration This is an excellent opportunity to advance nursing skills in a supportive, tech-equipped environment with diverse patient populations.
